To me it is tranquil. I enjoy staying there when I am frightened in my house in Jackson, Mississippi. Also, I absolutely love that there is always Holy Bible placed by the Gideons in the bedside table drawer. My last stay here was miraculous to say the least. I was frightened beyond belief back in May. I drove by the grace of GOD Almighty. I brought two of my bibles, my personal Holy Bible and my pawpaw Homers Holy Bible which went missing. However during this last stay here I received a knock on the door. Suzanne Papa hand delivered the two Holy Bible's to me. I cried and am more than thankful for this. I do have two Gideon Holy Bibles here as I didn't have my Holy Bible with me and read from them. Thus they remain with me as I find great comfort with them, that is, HOLY BIBLE. I miss this place as it is the town I was raised in. I will be back soon to see mom. But dad is buried down the road and staying here allows me to visit his gravesite on highway 80. It is something I will never get over as I miss him and so does my mom. Thus this property is a wonderfully situated site being also across from the military park. And I have been enjoying reading the book I purchased here called RECEDING TIDE. Oh. I found a five dollar bill behind the mini fridge and a bottle of gin, diagram mint under the pullout chair. I threw the bottle of gin into the trash receptacle outside as I do not like Gin and didn't want it in my room during my stay. The five dollar bill is in the room but not on the floor behind the mini fridge. I noticed the motor seemed hot. I also did unplug the television as I wanted to not be around TV as I had just cancelled my Direct TV prior to coming here. TV to me is falsehood. I don't fault anyone for watching but it really bothers me, especially the news. Even the newspapers bother me. The room was fairly clean, and was quite nice. I enjoyed my stay and wish I were able to stay longer. I had prayed I could live there with my cats and kittens. But alas, I am not able to afford. And when I arrived back in Jackson I happen to have found a tiny little baby kitten as I was putting two postcards purchased from here, a MISSISSIPPI Sunset and a MISSISSIPPI flower postcard with azaleas, magnolia, wisteria and dogwoods. I mailed these to my daughters who live in pass Christian and when I pulled found the mailbox area by the levee at fortification I heard a loud chirping bird singing kitten meowing. I put the car in park and the kitten, solid blackbrown in color has been abandoned. I know the feeling all to well. So I picked up the little baby and immediately he or she began purring. We went to the store across from Exxon on high street and got coffee, donuts and sodas and a few other items. Little boo or Jackson is what his or her...
Read moreWere planning on driving further but flashflooding and bad road conditions forced us off earlier. We booked a 2 queen room here online ($200 with tax). When we arrived they didn't have a 2 queen and put us in a king with a rollaway. Annoyed to say the least for a family of 4 and no offer to credit back some of the points we had used for this stay due to not having the room we booked. The rollaway was horrendous and my husband couldn't sleep on it so we ended up all crammed in the king bed. Mattress wasn't the most comfortable and felt like it was on its last leg. Lobby area looked nice, but our room was horrible. The minute we opened the door it smelled strongly of mildew and mold. We couldn't change rooms as they were sold out. Our immunocompromised cancer kid coughed all night due to the mildew. We ended up having to have him wear a mask to help filter some and get him more comfortable. The furniture had peeling wood pieces and were scratched and knocked alot. The doors had so much dirt and filth on them. I used our disinfectant wipes to clean some of it off but they needed a very good scrubbing. Bedding was clean although the pillows were literally the size of small couch pillows (half of a standard pillow size). The bathroom looked okay at first but then I looked at the shower. It had black mold growing in it. It honestly was so far gone cleaning wise it needs to probably be replaced. I wouldn't let my family shower there. There was oddly a coffee maker in the bathroom next to the shower as well. The reviews I had read had this hotel higher rated for the area but our room definitely didn't reflect that. It was quiet and right across from the Nps visitor center for the vicksburg battlefield. Breakfast was okay, but people hoarded the sausage so we had to split the one sausage patty left between us. Bananas were all gone. Potatoes were cold. Staff wasn't very friendly. We travel alot and this hotel ranks of with one of the worst stays we have...
Read moreTraveling to Florida, this hotel was at our halfway mark. Made reservations for the trip there and back. Our time on the way to Florida was good. Only issue was the poor breakfast but, trying to gage the return of business after COVID couldn't be easy and I was willing to overlook.
The return was horrible though. We arrived just after 11 and the doors were looked. No problem. Safety issue. I get it. I appreciate that. I asked the associate what time check out was and she replied, 11 am. (T. his is standard). We took the key cardW q q. Q we w ws went straight to our room and fell quickly asleep. I set my alarm for 9:30 am. At 8 am I was woken to doors slamming, wo .men yelling down the hall. I had my "do not disturb" notice hanging on the door know but, apparently, that means absolutely nothing to the house keeping crew who was only concerned with getting all their rooms cleaned as soon as possible and who the hell cares about folks who arrived late and planned to leave within the standard checkout time. Also, the first stay we were on the 5th floor which required a key card on the elevator to get to the floor. It was a much nicer room with amenities such as water, etc. This room was not nearly as nice. Both rooms were clean. The curtains in the second room were torn at the top not allowing them to close properly. There was also mold in the shower/bath wall inside the grout on the second room. I can promise Hampton Inn they lost our business. They certainly did not live up to the reputable name of the Hampton. We will be making trips to the same location at least twice a year. That is four times a year we would be staying at the Hampton. Well, not now. Not sure how those who read this will feel about the possibility of staying there but, I can tell you, 6 hours of driving with little sleep is very difficult. I will not give them a second opportunity to screw...
