Went for breakfast before having to go for an important meeting. We were seated and the server, (i think her name was Janice) discovered we were new to the area and started to tell us about the town. She was charming and delightful. She took our orders right away and we settled in. Except she was waylaid by the manager on duty, who started to yell at her about having taken our orders when it wasn't her area. The poor server tried to explain (she had only recently started working here) That nobody had told her which section was hers today, and that she'd asked but nobody had answered. The manager was so loud the entire restaurant could hear, front and back. Other servers stopped working to watch and customers looked up from their plates. The server was on the verge of tears, and finally put in out order after the manager stomped away. And i do mean STOMPED away, slamming doors. The server went to her section and we didn't get a chance to talk to her again. But then, our food never arrived. 47 minutes after we sat down we decided to go ahead and leave. We couldn't stay any longer or we'd be late. So we went to the front counter to request a reciept and pay for the drinks, as they had been delivered promptly and we had completely finished them. The cashier made a few calls on the radio and some other servers came out and claimed our food was on the table waiting. We never saw it. And we aren't blind. They asked if we wanted it to go, and I said sure maybe we can eat the pancakes and eggs after the meeting. 6 minutes later the boxes were brought to us and we paid for the meals and left.
Yall.
The eggs were raw. The whites were slightly stiff but gooey and the yellows were just... raw. They had leaked down the side of the box and made a mess of the bag and the carpet. The pancakes were essentially dumped Into the container, with no syrup no nothing but a single strawberry and cream. The sausages smelled off and they were rubbery... It looked like dog vomit. It stank like bad milk. My husband's food box fared no better.
Now I agree some of that may have been from transferring the food to the container. Nothing can be expected to be picture perfect in a to go box. But... this was nothing like what I was expecting, and I could not have eaten this even when it was fresh. I don't believe the food appeared at the table right after we left. I suspect the food was hastily prepared after we attempted to leave in an effort to spare them the bad review.
But based on the way the manager treated the server alone, this place would have gotten the bad review anyway. No manager should dress down a server in public like that- there was no request for an explanation, no leadership method of teaching, just straight to shouting. Anybody who was new could have made that mistake And im angrier about her mistreatment than anything else.
Uncalled for, disrespectful,...
Read moreAbsolutely worst service I've ever experienced at a Cracker Barrel... we were sat almost immediately, which was very nice and unexpected. Drink orders taken, no issues. Drinks took a little long to come out. Orders placed, again no real issue. Biscuits brought out, no silverware. Flagged our server down to ask for silverware. 10 minutes later silverware was brought to table, biscuits already finished without using jelly or butter... The tables around us had already left or were close to leaving when we were seated. The resturaunt was at less than half capacity with open tables everywhere, so they were not busy, at all. Tables weren't being bussed or cleaned anywhere around us. Our server disappeared for almost 25 minutes after taking our order. No refill check-ups, no update on food, didn't even see her leave the kitchen area the entire time. 3 of our 6 food orders came out after 27 minutes and she asked about refills, telling us the rest if the food would be out "in just a minute". 18 minutes later the 3 plates that were brought out had been eaten and we had still not seen our server again, any refills, the rest if our food... nothing! We found another server and asked what was going on and we were told "it will be right out". A few minutes later our server pops out with the rest of our orders (most of which was either wrong, or entirely too small portions, but we were sick of waiting and ready to leave), says very little, and turns to walk away again before I asked about refills...again... she turned and went to the kitchen and came back with refills for the table. We left immediately after the rest of us finished eating and ended up being there for over an hour after ordering food. The server stayed away from us as much as possible the entire time and we are not an unruly family, nor were we pushy or demanding in any way. The amount of time we waited patiently should attest to that. Our server had zero care for anything about our table and showed it the few times we actually saw her. We did not get to eat together due to food coming out split by nearly 20 minutes... and thebentire time we were there, we only got 1 round of refills for the table. I like Cracker Barrel, always have, but this was pathetic. We will never visit this location again, rest assured. And based on how busy they weren't at 1745 on a Saturday evening, I have a feeling they can use every customer they can get... sorry to say my family will no longer be one of...
Read moreThis Cracker Barrel is the worst I’ve ever been to and I’ve been to probably 20 across the country. This review is from a former hostess and waitress. Let’s start with not being welcomed by the hostess and then being sat and promised she’d come back with a high chair and instead I had to stand and hold my kid in a chair for 5 minutes until someone acknowledged we still hadn’t received a high chair. In the meantime while I stood there waiting, let’s talk about the server when she saw that our family had been sat in her section which she deemed too busy already and she started arguing with the hostess in front of us and complaining that we were sat in her section. She then didn’t greet us and instead walked back to the kitchen area and stood there pouting until another server had to come serve us. Our new server was nice but very quiet and didn’t really initiate conversation including when she just stood there staring at us until we ordered. However, I will say she was very shy and the longer we were there and interacted with her, she started smiling and talking more. Now, the food. My fried shrimp and my son’s fried chicken were clearly fried in old grease so it was not good at all and burned. The green beans were very oily and had a strange taste. The biscuits were undercooked and raw in the middle. Finally the cleanliness (or lack thereof). The women’s bathroom was DISGUSTING. There was only one toilet not covered in urine, filled with poop, or doused in paper towels from a customer trying to patch up something nasty that wasn’t cleaned by the staff. I felt bad for my baby for having to change his diaper in that foul-smelling bathroom. His high chair that was finally brought to us was covered in food from the previous baby. And the floors in the dining area looked like they hadn’t been mopped or swept in over a week. The ONLY saving grace for this place was that at least the shop still smelled good and was organized and pretty like I’m used to at a Cracker Barrel. We will never stop here again which is disappointing because we love Cracker Barrel and frequently drive this route on the way to my...
