Don's Cab-Inns Campground — Hotel in Vinton

We stayed at Don’s Cab-Inns somewhat unexpectedly. We were traveling the Blue Ridge Parkway and the campground we were planning to stay at was closed due to the shutdown. We had some trouble reaching them by phone and couldn’t successfully reserve online. However, when we drove up the staff was super friendly and helpful and recommended we stay in cabin 10 which has heat and is convenient to the bathrooms. The cabin was perfect - cozy and warm with a queen mattress and double size loft bunk (which we didn’t need, being only two people). We cooked dinner on the campfire and breakfast on a hot plate (ours, not provided, although the cabin has a refridgerator, microwave and single serve coffee machine). The bathrooms were plentiful, spacious and clean with lovely hot showers in each one. The small camp store had a surprising variety of useful things - although we only needed ice. Firewood is available.

I can’t say enough about the staff. AWESOME! And they keep everything so clean and organized. They even helped us to get our EV charging on site overnight (we brought a portable level 1/2 charger). There was no problem with us staying even though we hadn’t been able to book and wouldn’t be able to pay until that got straightened out the next day.

Stayed here for the first time and enjoyed it. Campground, cabin and bathrooms were nice and clean. The lady working there was very nice and helpful. I had once concern was my phone had no service and the wifi wasn't working. This was ONLY a issue because I have health issues and must be able to reach out if I have a emergency. She said she would get it checked and late it was working. She came and checked on me to see if I had connection and was truly concerned that I was able to have wifi or cell connection. Very non user-friendly website. My confirmation email gave no info, only referred me to the website. I called the office because the website had scheduled the wrong days. No one in the office to take calls so I left a message. A small redeemer was that this place isn’t very busy and were easily able to accommodate. When I arrived to the campground, I was told I had to walk back to the welcome center to pick up my after-hours package when I arrived 45 minutes after the allowed 3pm check-in time.
