Beautiful on the outside. Average on the inside. We arrived went to check in and found an envelope with my name on it. In it was our key and a letter telling us directions to our room. We went up and found our room had not been cleaned yet. I went down to the desk and pushed the button they had near the desk for help. I waited a long time and no one came. I started to look around. I noticed there were people coming in for an event. I finally found someone about ten minutes later. I approached her and told her the problem. She apologized told me it would take half an hour to clean. I asked her if she had an other rooms with a king bed available. She told me no. We waited for our room. When it was supposedly cleaned we went up to it. Noticing that there were three empty rooms with king beds with no one||In them. We figured maybe people were coming in later. || We checked the sheets. There were black stains on them. The sink looked like it had not been cleaned. There was toothpaste splater on the wall and mirror. I went down to try to find someone again. Pressing the bell again, walking all over again. Waiting. Finally I went into the resturant and they told me the women in charge left but that I could call the number on the paper that was left for me. I tried calling it. No answer. As I was looking around I saw the women who supposedly cleaned our room. I found out later she was the innkeeper. She was walking around outside taking photos of the event that was going on there. I approached her and told her about the stain. She was very rude when she said " I just changed them." I took her up and showed it to her. She said " I'll change it". She did change it but the sheet she put on it had another stain on it. She seemed to be more interested in taking photos of the event than taking care of the people staying at her inn. Later that night we realized that all three other rooms with the king beds were still unoccupied. So a four star place with dirty sheets, dirty room and rude innkeeper. I...
Read moreMy parents fell in love with the Mad River Valley in the 1980s. They dated, got married, then before you know it, were bringing me and my siblings up to Waitsfield several times a year (almost monthly!). Every time we visited, we would go to Flatbread's, eat a pizza pie per person, and I would fantasize about having my wedding at Lareau Farm. When my now husband proposed, I said "oh, you know we are getting married at Lareau Farm, right?" Throughout our 6+ years of dating, he fell in love with Waitsfield too.
On Sept 7th, 2024, we got married at Lareau Farm. It was actually the best day of our lives. From the beginning stages of wedding planning up to the big day, ultimately, we felt taken care of. It was our first time getting married, so what did we know?? Helen Borrelli is an absolute kickass wedding advisor and coordinator. She held our hands throughout the whole experience, while managing to stay calm and firm. There was one moment she even calmed down our parents because they were nervous of rain during our wedding ceremony. Helen, please teach us your ways :)
Our expectations were exceeded with the Inn. We blocked out the entire space to house our friends for the weekend. The intimacy, comfort, and convenience of the Inn being right next to the venue is unmatched. Having our friends with us felt like a summer camp experience. Also, the Lareau Farm staff is unreal. They always went above and beyond to cook the best food, provide the best experience, and care for us.
Our friends and family have stated multiple times, "this was the best wedding I've ever been to!" I have pushed for constructive criticism from them, and no one has yet to give me an answer. Either they are lying to me, or really did have the best time. This could not have happened without the beautiful LF venue, Helen's experience and knowledge, and the staff's positive energy and five star service. I really wish we could do it all again!!! Love...
Read moreWe had the most magical wedding at Lareau! My husband and I immediately fell in love with the venue online when first beginning our search. Due to living outside of Vermont and surgery recovery, we were unable to go in person for a tour but Helen, the on-site coordinator, accommodated a virtual tour. Our “love at first sight” feeling only grew and we knew we had to book Lareau for our dream wedding, despite never setting foot on the property. From that first Facetime with Helen, we knew we were in good hands. Our entire planning process with Lareau was smooth and low-stress (despite how stressful wedding planning can be!). Helen was our cheerleader throughout the whole process and always supported whatever wild ideas we brought to the table. From the couples planning weekend the fall prior to the day of our wedding, we felt heard and supported by the entire staff at Lareau. The venue is absolutely gorgeous (especially in October!!). It was the perfect spot for a rustic, romantic New England wedding. We rented the entire inn for our wedding weekend and all of our family and friends that stayed there felt welcome and well taken care of. The innkeeper Stacey was very kind and made everyone's stay pleasant (including the delicious breakfast!) We fell in love not only with the location but with the delicious flatbread! All of our food and drink choices were incredible, we have guests that tell us this was the best wedding meal they have ever had. If you are looking for the perfect New England wedding venue that has delicious farm-to-table food, a relaxed but romantic atmosphere, picture-perfect setting, lodging on site and is dog friendly, look no further!! I cannot recommend Lareau enough and we can’t wait to get back up to Vermont soon (and hopefully convince friends to get married there so we can attend a wedding at Lareau!!). Thank you x a million LFI for making our dream...
