We have stayed in modest Days Inns. But this should not be in the chain. The night clerk was a sweet girl who tried to get our internet to work, checked with management, then said the problem was with my computer (which has worked in every other hotel on our one-month road trip).| After seeing our room and the lobby, we should have left (but didn't want our card charged for a night we didn't use). So we decided to make the best of it. MISTAKE.||Lobby: floor needed sweeping and carpet vacuumed. Crumb-laden breakfast counter at 4 PM. Dirty sofa. Some curtains wound in balls, one with blood spots on it. When asked where it was, desk clerk said ice machine was broken. AM clerk said it was working (who was telling the truth?).||Breakfast was the THE WORST I had ever seen at a Days Inn. With about a dozen cars in the parking lot, these are the foods that were set out: a half gallon of milk and 4 yogurts in the fridge. Some slices of white bread, 4 small packaged muffins, a few apples, Froot Loops, and some Raisin Bran. Didn't bother to take any, with all those cars still in the lot.||Our room: human hair in shower; 2 dingy bath towels, one with gray smudges and damp (as if it had been used to wipe the floor). Dirty and stained upholstered chair.||At 7:30 AM, we awakened to a strange man and woman entering our room . Fortunately, they left before we had chance to ask them why they were there.||At checkout, I asked to speak to the manager. I was curious about how long the hotel has been under current management. The sweet girl at the counter texted the manager, letting her know I would like to speak to her. I waited, and waited. Told her I would check out after speaking to the manager. So, since we were all packed up and ready to go, I sat on that stained couch in the lobby, waiting for a manager. I had brought our bath towels for her to see.||The clerk asked, "Ma'am, would you like to wait in you room?"||"No, I will just wait for her here."||After the clerk had mentioned it was Sat. and the manager was not in, she offered to take my number so the manager could call me||I relied, "No, is there an Asst. Manager? Someone in charge needs to see these towels."||"No, there isn't one. The manager worked late last night."||But this girl was the only one at the desk last night, when I needed help getting on the internet. (I had asked for help from a manager then.)||So I continued to wait. "OK, then. I will just wait for her."||Several minutes later the clerk got a text from the manager.||"She is out of town." | (On a Sat. morning, with only a 4-day clerk to handle the place?)||So I checked out. Asked the clerk to please show the manager our towels. Then headed out, past the knotted curtain with its blood spots, through the two fully smudged glass doors...... leaving behind the four yogurts, 4 small muffins, and some bread slices for the folks...
Read moreBED BUGS ROOM 124! I suggest you find somewhere else to stay unless you want bed bugs in your belongings! We will not be coming back ever again! And that is mainly because of the dismissiveness of the owner! We have been staying here off and on for the last 35+ days for work, renting different rooms. Each room we rented seem to be okay with just little things here and there that weren't up to par. BUT on this trip we were in room 124 for 4 days when I found a live bed bug under my pillow. I looked further and found several more alive bed bugs in both queen beds on the box springs. I took pictures/videos. My son was bitten. (UPDATE 6/26/25: ALL 3 OF US GOT BITTEN BY BED BUGS!) We got moved to another room. We talked to owner the next day & he was very dismissive! He claimed they didn't find any bugs. He lied & seemed to have no concern about the bed bugs & seemed to have no intention of taking care of it. At that point I STRONGLY protested telling him I had evidence of videos and pictures, who I showed to the front desk staff; & the housekeeping staff saw the bugs with me as I was taking those pictures/videos. As we were talking to the owner a bed bug was crawling on the hall wall next to room 124 where the bed bugs were found! The owner picked it up, killed it & threw it on the rug in the hallway. I was appalled. I cannot believe how unconcerned the staff or the owner is about bed bugs infesting their hotel and then renting those rooms out to guests who can get them in their luggage and their clothing and transport them to other places plus their home! He claims they're going to take care of it but I highly doubt it! Staff was shrugging it off. I also found old reviews from 2 & 4 yrs ago about bed bugs in the hotel and there's been no resolution apparently! I have already made a formal complaint to the Iowa Department of Health (DIAL) that regulates & inspects the hotel industry and the dismissiveness of this owner along with my pictures/videos! And I am also in the process of filing a formal complaint with Wyndham Hotels about this situation! So please do yourself a huge favor unless you love sleeping with bugs, getting fed upon and taking them home with you I suggest you find somewhere else to go! The cost of the hotel room is not worth the bed bug infestation that you can get ...
Read moreThis hotel stole my money. This hotel charged me for an extra $47 still have not given me a refund. It has been 14 days and I have called multiple times and have yet to speak to the manager or anyone who will fix this problem. I never write reviews for placed but I had to hoping I could save someone the the kind of trouble I have been going through. I stayed here on the 29th of April. We checked in just after midnight and we were check out by 7am. The room was musty, smelled of cigarette smoke, and the bathtub and a hole in wall where pink insulation was coming out and into the tub. However, it was a place to sleep so we stuck it out since we did not plan on staying long. The breakfast was white bread, cold coffee, warm milk with frosted flakes, so we skipped out on this. When we booked the hotel I booked with a 3rd party, who I have never had trouble with before. I prepaid for the room on the 3rd party site using my PayPal. When we got to the hotel they took my credit card for incidentals, as they always do, except this hotel charged me $47 dollars for the room even though we had already paid. When I called about this charge they said it must be from the 3rd party site and that I should take it up with them except the 3rd party site does not even have my credit card information! They told me to wait 10 days, so I have waited. It has now been 14 days since the charge on my card. I have called 6 times in the past 4 days and still have not spoken to "the manager" even though every single time I call they take my name and phone number and tell me they will "have their manager call me right away". I am disgusted. We stayed in 10 different hotels on our trip and this is the only one we had...
