I am sharing my experience because I went to this place based on so many different reviews and I got extremely dissapointed:
The point for me to book a hostel is the fact that it has kitchen and you can cook. Also the interaction with other minded people, usually hikers or skiers in this area. The property has kitchen but the owner uses the dinning table as an office, there is no place for you to seat and have a meal. Besides feels super uncomfortable that the owner is always there, working I guess, so the place is weridly quiet. The man was there as early as 7am until padt 8pm. He is in the room you have to cross to go from rooms to kitchen, so you always feel like going into someone's office. Very unfriendly feeling. Instead of cooking which was my hope, I ended up eating snacks in bed, because my room didn't have a little table or anything. So unless you book a bigger room, bed for food is your only option. There is a living room kinda area, but it's inside the gallery store, again, awkward... The most unfriendly hostel I have ever been. I would not recommend. Feels like an art gallery in crises that needs to rent rooms to stay afloat. Definitely not guest...
Read moreI just needed a spot for one night and the price felt too good to be true (under $60) but the one review I read (not sure where) gave it a 9/10. I stay at a lot of different kinds of places and the Art Gallery Hostel is definitely one of a kind and met my needs perfectly - a comfortable, clean room at a great price. Quirky but warm and friendly (in a non-hotel kind of way.) It felt very much like staying at a friend's house and the friend gives you all the privacy and/or company you need or want. The other guests were friendly and of the same, casual ilk - no stress, no big demands - just looking for a safe, clean place to camp out for a night or for a while. This isn't a 4 star hotel so don't expect 4 star amenities. It is what it is and for me...
