with all the high hopes, ski in/out was the reason my wife & I stayed at the Kintla Lodge. once arrived, we got set up w/ a beautiful mountain view & lift chair 3 is 20 feet away. jacuzzi is outdoors & covered by a roof. when we went to go enjoy the jacuzzi after a full day of skiing, the timer for the jets was turned on but none of them were working? so it was the equivalent of a hot bath & nothing more. great locker area (included w/ stay) to store ski's/boots etc. which also have tubes for the boots to stay dry. being that the Kintla is considered 'upper village', it is very limited: small convenient store w/ essentials (bare necessities), ski equipment rental shop, ski equipment store, 1 single breakfast/coffee store which has coffee and 3 things to eat, all of which are prepared elsewhere, 5 places to eat (4 are cafeteria type foods & 1 is a 5 Star at the Kandahar Lodge-1 block away). once you're all set up & ready to hit the slopes: plenty of greens, blues & blacks for any skiers or snowboarders to enjoy. 11 lift chairs, 2 of which are on the North side of...
Read moreWe stayed 5 nights in an "L" unit which turns out to stand for a "Lock out" - or an extra room from a suite that is separated by a locked door. The room was quite small - even for two, but it was clean and well appointed. It would have been nice to have a microwave for reheats and snacks and should be standard issue for this type of room. I think this size is appropriate for a weekend, but any longer one should opt for a larger suite. The real attraction here is that it is right at the base of chair 3. If you want to head to chair 1, then this is best called a 'ski-in, skate-out' condo. The convenience of practically skiing into the ski-locker room is tough to argue with. Note that there are a limited number of restaurants in the Village and only a couple of places to get breakfast. Therefore, you pretty much have to count on going into Whitefish for a dinner or...
Read moreWe checked into Kintla Lodge for a week of skiing at Whitefish Mountain. The unit was very clean and comfortable. The gas fireplace was a nice feature. The décor was rustic with mostly pine furniture (as advertised) and it was a bit outdated but fine. If you require high end finishes and fancy linens then this is not the place for you. ||||The underground parking garage was great since it never really stopped snowing or blowing. The ski locker was also convenient. ||||Our room overlooked chair 3, so we enjoyed watching the snow cat in the early morning hours. ||||The staff was friendly and we were satisfied with the accommodations. Nothing fancy but clean and we were comfortable after a long...
