My boyfriend and I checked in 7/30-8/1 in Room 709. We were there for just a quick getaway and didn't need anything special: just a bed, AC, a shower, a little TV. Ironically, for a hotel, this was too much to ask for. When entering our room, it was stifling hot, humid, and stale. Luckily, the AC didn't take long to cool off the room. We tried to turn the TV on, but no picture would come through except "Channel Not Available." I called down the front desk to inform them of the problem. The lady told me several guests were experiencing the same problem, but the cable was out and couldn't be fixed until the next morning. We went on to bed. The next morning, the sun was out and beaming through the front windows. It was hot. AGAIN. The AC was not working and showed "br" on the screen. No functions worked at all. So, we got ourselves ready and would inform the front desk of the issue as we left for the day. When my boyfriend got out of the shower, he showed me a towel that was not his or mine, but that had apparently been left by a previous guest. We both started to question this hotel at this point. Around 9am we voiced our issues to the front desk. As far as the AC, there was a power outage. Ok, I can't fault them for that when it's beyond their control. I asked if the cable had been restored since the night before. The front desk associate told me "The power is out, that goes along with the cable." I didn't so much appreciate the sarcasm coming from her, but I chopped it up that she wasn't informed of what I was made to believe was a hotel-wide issue from the night before. I then told her about the dirty towels in the bathroom and requested housekeeping come, at least, to clean the bathroom. She informed me that due to COVID, housekeeping would only go into the room after we checked out. I stopped her on that comment to inform her that these were left by a previous guest and it was unsanitary for us regardless of COVID. She then told me she would have housekeeping come by and clean up the room. We returned to the hotel around 7 Saturday night to find the elevators on the closest end to our room were not working (opposite from the night before). We walked past the front desk to get to the other elevator. We asked if the power had been restored as well as the cable - we were told both had been, but that we should reset the surge protector on the tv for it to work. Getting back to the room, we found the bathroom had not been cleaned, the AC did not reset itself from power outage so the room was hot, humid, and stale again, and the cable was STILL not working. We called the front desk again about it. They informed us to unplug the tv for a few minutes and if that didn't work to unscrew the cable line. We tried both to no avail. At 10pm Saturday night, I packed our things and went to the front desk to check out early. I told both associates it was not my responsibility to fix THEIR tv and it was absolutely absurd that housekeeping did NOT come to clean our room despite unsanitary conditions from a stranger. We were not accommodated and therefore left late at night to make a 3.5 hour journey back home. Before leaving, I asked for a manager business card to inform them of the issues we had and was told to call the next morning; Andrea was the manager's name. I called 3 different times between mid-morning and early afternoon on Sunday. NO ONE answered the phone after I let it ring for minimum 30 seconds for each call. I called Monday, 8/2 and asked to speak directly to Andrea regarding my stay. The front desk associate asked if my issues were related to the power outage. I told him no, it was beyond that. He put me on a brief hold, and later came back to tell me that Andrea told him to get my information and he would pass it along to the General Manager who could better assist me. I was told the GM would call me that afternoon. No one ever tried to call me. The corporate office will now be contacted and we will NOT return...
Read moreMade a last minute reservation through the Tripadvisor app on the evening of arrival. Paid through the app. Arrived at the hotel to be told that I was going to have to pay an additional $50 deposit on top of the reservation fee I paid through the app. Clerk was VERY rude. She told me that ALL hotels charge a deposit on top of the reservation fee. That is simply NOT true. I have never paid a deposit ever at any hotel chain. Maybe its true there but not EVERYWHERE. Being that it was 10pm, I didn't have many other options as we were all tired after a day of play at the nearby amusement park. The clerk made me run my credit card 4 times insisting that the card was not going through, despite the card reader showing "approved" each time. ||We were given a room on the 7th floor. The elevator to the floor was dingy and dark. It appeared very old. Once the elevator doors opened, we walked into a hallway that was stained ALL over, not just in one spot. Our room, was decent. It appeared freshly painted and updated. However, the shower drain did NOT drain very well. It quickly filled up with water. There was NO ventilation fan in the bathroom so it got humid in there fast & could be stinky if someone had to go number two. The toilet had 2 buttons on the top (small and big flush). The small flush button did not work. Sink was outside of the small bathroom. It had pipes exposed underneath. So, no attempt to beautify the space. I wish I could tell you what I had as a view from our room, but the windows were all fogged up and covered in dirty handprints. We also found pieces of plaster pieces around the corners of the room in the carpets. Carpets did appear new in room. Room had a weird smell, like paint or room deodorizer. Beds were comfortable. Bedding looked clean. ||A FREE breakfast was included with room stay. We went down at 6:30am when the breakfast opened. They had pancakes, scrambled eggs, sausage, hashbrowns, bread, bagels, yogurt and a few types of cereal. They offered regular coffee and juice. Food was OK. It was all warm. Pancakes and sausage were pretty good. Rest was just OK. No fruit, no granola, nothing extra really. Just a basic breakfast. Dining area for the breakfast was terrible. Tables were wobbly and chairs were severely stained. Microwave in the breakfast area was covered in splattered food inside. GROSS. Nice view of the outdoor pool from the dining area. We did not use the pool, but it looked nice. ||On our way out of the hotel, I tried to find an ice machine & couldn't find one on the 7th floor or the ground floor. I asked the front desk and was told that they were only on the 5th and 8th floor on the side we stayed on. WOW. Really? I informed the staff of our problems with our stay: dirty windows, shower not draining and the small flush button on the toilet not working. I also informed them about the issue I had with the evening employee and my credit card. They reassured me that this is their policy and that my card would be credited after checkout. ||Overall, stay was OK. Beds were comfortable enough for an overnight stay. VERY close to amusement park. Parking lot felt safe. FREE breakfast was a plus. Hotel needs new carpets in hallways, new seating in the breakfast area and friendlier staff. Might stay again IF going to the amusement park as it was not terrible but has plenty of room for...
Read moreI recently had the misfortune of staying at the Wyndham Garden Hotel, and I cannot express enough how disappointing and unpleasant my stay was. I encountered a multitude of issues that left me utterly dissatisfied and frustrated with this establishment.
First and foremost, the room was infested with bed bugs. It was a nightmare dealing with these pests, as they caused me constant discomfort and left me with itchy, irritated skin. In addition to the bed bug problem, the beds in the room were completely wrong in size, making it nearly impossible to get a good night's sleep.
The air conditioning system in the hotel was clearly outdated and barely functional. The ancient AC units struggled to maintain a comfortable temperature, leading to inconsistent cooling and exacerbating my discomfort. To make matters worse, the poor air quality from the outdated AC contributed to me falling ill and experiencing stomach pains throughout my stay.
The layout of the room was also highly inconvenient. Having the sink located outside of the bathroom was an odd and impractical design choice, causing unnecessary inconvenience and disrupting the overall functionality of the space.
Furthermore, the noise levels in the hotel were unbearable. My neighbors were engaged in loud, disruptive behavior for hours on end, making it nearly impossible to get any rest or relaxation. This lack of sound insulation and disregard for guest comfort was highly disappointing.
The breakfast offered at the hotel was nothing short of a disaster. The food was overcooked, of terrible quality, and lacking in variety. It was clear that the hotel had little regard for providing a satisfying dining experience for their guests.
The room itself had numerous maintenance issues. The outlets did not work, rendering it impossible to charge electronic devices or use any appliances. Moreover, the exposed wiring posed a safety hazard and was a clear sign of neglect on the hotel's part.
While I can commend the hotel's location for its proximity to Busch Gardens and Water Country USA, this positive aspect was overshadowed by the multitude of issues I encountered. The staff, though, were polite and helpful, but unfortunately, their friendliness was not enough to salvage my experience.
To make matters worse, the hotel's parking area was notorious for car break-ins. I felt constantly worried about the security of my vehicle, and it significantly added to my stress during the stay. Additionally, the pool water was disgustingly dirty, and accidentally ingesting it made me feel nauseous. Tying the gate to the pool with a rope attached to a floatie was a clear demonstration of the hotel's lack of professionalism and concern for guest safety.
In summary, my stay at the Wyndham Garden Hotel was an absolute nightmare. From the bed bugs to the wrong-sized beds, outdated AC units, inconvenient room layout, disruptive neighbors, terrible breakfast, non-functional outlets, exposed wiring, and security concerns, I cannot recommend this hotel to anyone seeking a comfortable and enjoyable stay. The few positive aspects, such as the location and friendly staff, were overshadowed by the multitude of negative experiences I...
