I travel in my position throughout North America and have had great experiences and horrible experiences, I was not prepared for this. The TL;DR version: my house is going through repairs from a flood kitchen. My family have been in the insurance hades for 3 months. The stress of spinning the plates of work, taking kids to school, dealing with contractors and playing phone tag with insurance has been exhausting mentally, financially and emotionally. ALE finally kicked in and we were able to temp relocate to the Springhill Suites by Marriott 10 minutes away from our house. |I have never experienced a team, a complete team, that has gone above and beyond the standard norm. I’m talking every team member desk, kitchen, night and housekeeping all greeted us every single day with smiles and good morning/evening. They knew our situation and asked how things were going and how they could help. When I see individuals function as one team with one purpose, that is a sign of great leadership. They don’t just go through the motions and fake it till you make it. They truly care. Housekeeping (9/25) were so amazing and so pleasant. I mean, I can’t remember the last time in a business that claimed they have a customer first mentality and actually do! The facility is immaculate. The gym is fantastic. The breakfast has been wonderful. It’s funny, I was just in a high end hotel who didn’t understand the word “complementary” that was out of state that wanted to change me $2.99 for a cup of coffee. Here, the coffee was empty and they brewed a fresh pot! I had clothes that I was going to valet clean and what happened… Bailey, at the front desk washed, dried and folded my clothes herself. This doesn’t happen! I was gobsmacked! I offered her money but she declined. This never happens! I shouldn’t be shocked, but in this day and age, I am. I didn’t demand or ask, this team just did it! She is the standard that everyone needs to rise up and meet within the Marriott organization. Thank you from me and my family! You made a stressful situation alot more tolerable. I hope that my future North American stays at Marriott will be like this,...
Read moreI chose this hotel because I was visiting a friend in Cresson. I was going to stay here for a couple of days and I wanted to be sure to stay in a hotel that was clean, easily accessible and offered a free breakfast. I also wanted one that was close to the interstate since I was going to be traveling west the day I checked out. I stayed at a Springhill suites in Austin and this hotel looked identical to that one so I was pleased because I liked that hotel as well. I use their fitness facility which offered a couple of treadmills, bicycle and elliptical machines. The fitness center also had free weights and some other, weightlifting items that could be used. There was also a public bathroom right next to the fitness center, which was very convenient for washing my hands before I went to the free breakfast. The breakfast offered oatmeal each day. I was here which I do really enjoy as well as free, scrambled eggs. They had coffee regular and decaf, a variety of juices, tea, yogurt, various toppings for your oatmeal or yogurt, such as nuts, dried fruit, brown sugar, etc. they also had a variety of breads and muffins. My room was exactly what I needed. The bed was extremely comfortable. The temperature outside was in the 80s for the most part so I did use the air conditioner but I found it got a little too cold at night even with the temperature setting and there was no way to really control that coldness unless I got up and adjusted temperature couple of times, so I ended up turning it off, and the room was still comfortable. Since I was staying here a couple of nights it was also convenient to have a small fridge and a microwave. The pool does not have a hot tub which was a little disappointing but in the hot summer, I know that the pool would probably be very refreshing. The only reason I gave a four star location is because it’s about 20 minutes away from some of the main things to do in Fort Worth when I know that there are many other places closer to the city. There are a couple of places to eat nearby, but there wasn’t as much variety in the local vicinity as I was...
Read moreI seem to be a dissenting voice on this hotel, but for us it was a nightmare stay! 😨 First of all, it is not at all convenient to I-20, maybe because of how Google directed us, but we had to wind all over back roads to get there. Once we got to the hotel, it started out well, with meeting the new District Manager who is very friendly and personable. The room appeared clean and didn't have an overwhelming odor of artificial scents as some do. However, as soon as we got in bed and pulled up the covers, I said, "Oh no!" My husband (who is not sensitive and doesn't notice smells) said, "I smell it, too." There was some overpowering artificial scent on the sheets, which of course gets on your skin, too. I soon began scratching uncontrollably and couldn't stop. Finally I got up and took a huge dose of the essential oils I use for allergies, plus another one for inflammation. Thanks to that I was finally able to fall asleep. I woke up a few hours later and had to repeat it. By the next morning my asthma was exacerbated.
Then there was breakfast, if you can call it that. I knew better than to even try it, but my husband did. He called me over to see the "burned biscuits." (See photo) While I spoke to the manager about the linens, the kitchen manager came over and hovered around, thinking we were complaining about the breakfast. Then my husband told the manager about the burned "biscuits," and the woman in charge of the kitchen jumped in defensively and said they are soufflés and that is how they're supposed to be. 🙄
The desk clerk and the manager both listened to us, which I did appreciate. The manager said all Marriott Bonvoys use unscented products because of people with sensitivities and allergies, but she is new and would look into what might have been added. We have no idea what someone put in with those linens, but it was clearly something highly allergenic which ruined my night's sleep. We are Marriott Bonvoy members and have stayed at many, but after this experience we are not at all inclined to try SpringHill Suites...
