When I looked at all the available options when planning the trip, Meadowbrook had the highest rating among even the most popular places like Wilderness on the Lake or Mt Olympus. We were so excited to be staying at Meadowbrook because of this, and it was our first trip since 2019. But then we checked-in...We reserved and paid for a cabin, but were given a hotel room with one queen and two twins because they "overbooked". We did not receive a refund for the lesser priced room either. It was on the first floor near the pool so we had noises at all hours from above us and people constantly walking by our ground-level patio. We did not feel that we had any privacy unless we closed the curtains completely. One of the three lights in the room did not work. We tried taking a bulb from one of the other lights but the bulb was not the issue. There was blood stains on the queen sheets. The bathroom sink took several minutes to drain after washing hands. There were random stains and carpet tears around the room. The walls had oily marks, likely fingerprint marks. The "kitchen" is only a small two burner electric countertop appliance, a microwave, a mini fridge and a coffee pot. The top of the microwave(which is at eye level) had not been dusted in a long time. I had to clean it before using it to store some food items because there was no cupboard of counter space. The WiFi signal was so weak that our devices did not pick it up while in the room. This was something I needed so I could send work emails and project notes but the only fix they came up with was for me to sit in the lobby where the signal was strongest and do my work there. The room overall is interstate hotel quality at best, not Wisconsin Dells Resort quality. I don't understand how they have such a high rating when there was not one good thing to report about. For the same money I gave Meadowbrook Resort, we could have stayed at The Vue for twice as many days and had a room with a river view that was much closer to downtown Dells, or we could have stayed at Mt Olympus for two more days and had free park passes. We will not stay at Meadowbrook again.

Low cost, clean place to stay. Off the beaten path but quick to get to everything. This is not a 5 star hotel, but it was nice for what it was. We stayed in Pine Cone Cabin for 4 nights. 2 adults and 2 kids (ages 4 and 6). The stairs in this particular cabin are steep and just a bit odd. I wouldn’t want to stay in it with a kid younger than 4. I think it technically sleeps up to 6 but I would say 4 is the max number of people the cabin comfortable holds. The bathroom is quite small. Some things I think could improve the space: - updated blinds (most were broken) - additional hooks and shelves inside the front door, in the dining area and especially the bathroom - the dvd player is located in the kitchen. It would make more sense to have it down by the couch If I was booking again, I would pick a different cabin that didn’t have stairs to enter. We spent time in the outdoor pools and the kids had fun. They promote that they do nightly campfires with s’mores but I didn’t realize you had to buy the s’mores stuff. One bucket with a poker, bag of marshmallows, graham crackers and 2 chocolate bars was $15. If I had known this I would have brought my own. The beds were okay but not super comfortable. All in all, it was a clean and quiet place to stay. We had no issues. Doing dishes and taking out trash was no big deal to us. If you’re staying here, I would bring paper towels and beach towels for sure. The WiFi is an unsecured network. We use Verizon and had fine service in the upper level our cabin but hardly any service downstairs in the bedrooms.

My children, my mother, and I stayed in the Mountaineer Cabin June 18th-22nd, 2018. I was just looking though our vacation pictures, and realized that I hadn't written a review on the place, as I had intended too. I am not one to write reviews, usually, but I found this place to be a rude, spider-ridden, rip off. I would've given this stay a 1, but I liked it because it was off the beaten path, away from the hustle and bustle, yet a 5-10 minute drive from the action. There is also the benefit of the coupons they provide for activities, or "packages." They definitely prey on anyone that has never stayed with them before though, and I was one of these people. After a very long check in process, we were given our key cards to our cabin. The benefits of a cabin are obvious...privacy, seclusion, and quietness. What they don't tell you is that some of these cabins, including ours, require going up a 45-60 degree angle, narrow "road" (if you can call it that), and, while punching your accelerator, you have to Evil Knievel your way into a 90 degree turn to get into your parking spot. May God have mercy on your soul if you have children that want to go down to the lodge area to go swimming, and you're not super fit and/or on in years. I had to stop several times hiking back to my cabin to catch my breath, as did my mother. So, if you decide that the additional cost of a cabin is worth it, may I highly suggest making sure that you get one on the lower side of the hill, across from the Lodge. Of course, you don't know this until you check in, and drive to your cabin. They don't give you a map of the cabins online either, that I know of, so that you know which ones to avoid. Speaking of the cabins, let me say that the cleanliness leaves something to be desired. The housekeeping staff does a wonderful job, it's not that. the rug was absolutely filthy in the main walk areas, and according to staff, who shall remain nameless, they are only cleaned once per year in the winter, during maintenance. I'm not Mrs. Clean in no way, shape, or form, but I wouldn't walk barefoot on that carpet if you paid me. Unfortunately, I was the one that was paying for it. Also, our cabin had 2 downstairs bedrooms. First, the beds were described as "amazing" in one of the reviews I read. Ours were not, in any way, amazing. Not to mention that there is a spider problem. Judging from the bites on my feet, there is an entire colony with extended family living there. I'm an RN, so I know the difference between different bites. I was bit enough to go into anaphylactic shock. If I were to stay there again, I would simply stay in the rooms next to the Lodge. How the owner responded to our complaints was both insulting and rude. I spoke to him while he was outside of the cabin behind us that was making all the ruckus, and while he was yelling at the housekeeping staff. He said, and I will quote, "Well their gone now, and you'll only be here for a few more days, so you don't have to worry about it." I feel bad for the staff that works here. I noticed that very few of them ever smiled, and having to work for a subhuman like that, I don't blame them. The degradation that he was treating the housekeeping staff with made my heart go out to them. It was obvious that he had ZERO hospitality training or any sort of ability to be personable. He is there solely for the money, and could care less if you were satisfied, or not. I feel the need to mention something about the vacation packages they offer, as well. If you are booking it online, don't book a package! We booked the "Wet & Wild" package. There were things in it we wanted to do, and things we could've cared less about. Half way through our time spent there, a very nice lady working the front desk, who shall also remain nameless, told us that the packages were such a rip off that she encouraged callers that were booking just to get the room/cabin, because you can get the discounted tickets for the things that you actually want to do from the front desk...

When I first read about meadowbrook I really thought my family and I would enjoy it. After researching for a few days even though I did read some negative reviews we decided to book it.we were offered the kalahari package which was free admission to the water and theme park at kalahari resorts. We loved that we got offered that because kalahari was where we were wanting to go. A week yes before our vacation meadowbrook called and said that they couldn't offer us the kalahari package anymore because kalahari was on blackout?! Um we booked in February for a vacation in April why are we just getting called also we paid for this package. They ended up offering us another package which we really had no choice but to take it. But was not what we wanted. Then on top I called kalahari and kalahari told me that meadowbrook new of this since January so why are you still selling that package? Day of check in was awful just awful we love 3 hours away so by the time we got there it was 12 we asked for early check in. They couldn't offer us the early check in because the room wasn't ready they told us it would be ready by 3. We went to eat for lunch and did some shopping. Kids were getting ansie so we went back to hotel to get our room. This was at 430pm. They still tell us our room is not ready and it will be awhile that they are just getting to the 3rd floor. So we asked how long she said about 20mins. After sitting for 45 mins with kids I questioned how long again. The response was not sure. I said well 1st we were here for early check in at 12 and it's not ready you tell me it will be ready by 3 and here its going on 530 and it's still not ready. I have 3 kids who need to eat dinner. Her response to me was oh well I'm sorry you can go swim if you want! Really where we going to change when everything is packed and you don't offer a locker room. So we continued to wait. Once we finally got a room it was the wrong room we were supposed to have a 2 bedroom with queen beds and we got full beds. I went to complain on that and the lady was very rude and said we only offer queen beds and I told her that that was not a queen bed that I checked there sheets it said full and she told me well that's what you get and what we offer nothing I can do to help! I looked at her and told her i would never come back. She said that's fine. Also while I was waiting for our room 5 other people came in who were also told there rooms weren't ready. Once we got settled into the room it was a joke. 1st the small beds the tub was filthy and slimy hair on the floor dirty sink they gave us one roll of toilet paper and one towel It had awful smell There were dead lady bugs in the window The dishes were dirty along with the little plug in stove It was cold. We changed after eating to take the kids to swim. Its fun for kids yes but the water was freezing. My little ones were shivering the whole time. There's a little fence piece that goes next to a slide and it was breaking all into the water and floating in the pool.Bedtime came my husband and I like to watch TV together before bed. The tv was awful the color was going out it was like half purple half green then it would work then it would turn then the picture would shake wasn't worth it. Also I forgot to mention. I stopped a housekeeping lady in the hallway and asked her if they have do not disturb signs she said no. I looked at her kind of funny and I said you don't she said no we clean everyday. I said I understand that but if we don't want our room touched or just don't want to be disturbed what do we do she said nothing. So I did ask the front desk they told me the same thing so I asked for no service since we were there for a few days unless I requested it and they couldn't do that. Overall the while vacation was a bust! The package we ended up getting was not great! The hotel sucked the staff was rude the rooms were dirty the pool was cold. Just not nice. Honestly save your money amd stay somewhere else! Just...

DO NOT STAY HERE!!!

When we first arrived, we were lied to about our room being a cabin. It was a basic hotel room. We decided we'd stay anyway since we couldn't get our money back. The front desk told her to let them know how many people were there. I explained that myself, my brother and a few of my children were NOT staying the night. Simply helping unload items and leavingbor getting the kids settled then leaving etc. She forced us to write down everyone's name anyway. Then said it was "too many people" and forced us to buy a 3 room suite for almost 1000$. I tried explaining again that we dont need that large of a room since we wont have that many people staying but they said it was "policy".

The room was dirty, including the dishes. When we told staff they told us it was our responsibility to clean up after the last guests who ate there! There were 2 huge wasps nests on our balcony. I notified staff and took my children out of the room to swim for one hour and away from the building for another. I came back and the worker asked if we can leave AGAIN because he was "just about to go in" and it took so long because he was getting the spray from the laundry room? I told him I have nowhere else to go with 5children. It was dinner time and they needed to sit and eat. He then left the spray in the middle of the floor by my 2yo. My dad ended up having to go get the spray and take care of the nest himself. When I told management about the dirty room and the nest, he got mad at ME. Said it was against policy that my dad took care of the wasp nest, claimed I was rude to staff and didn't give them time to handle it (2hrs). Then if I complained anymore, I'd be evicted after spending almost 1000$ with no refund. I left for the evening as my dad stayed with 3 of my children. And don't even ask for new towels or extras. They do not give any extras or exchange, even if you are staying 2-3 nights, they claim covid policy not to allow fresh towels.

Throughout the night the guests above ours left their children in the room, (we know since my dad heard them come back in after 1am, yelling at them about misbehaving while they were gone). But until after 1am, my dad said they kept my children up by jumping off the beds and running around. He tried to tell staff but everyone left. He didn't call the police since he didn't know they were alone until someone already came back. When he told staff the following morning, they said it was over now so should be fine??

None of the play areas in the water have mats at the bottom of the slides so the kids hit the cement directly. And there are wasp nests in the outdoor kids slide area as well so I had to take them back inside only. The property has a lot of garbage and alcohol bottles just thrown into the "nature" areas they claim you can hike on. And not one of the game room machines work. They are lit up but don't even move or do anything.

Our stay, and what was supposed to be a fun birthday weekend for my son, was a mess of bad staff, areas we couldn't use (our balcony, kids play area and game room), disgusting room and no...
