Last year I visited this hotel and it was ok. This year.... was HORRIBLE! From the minute we checked in, the staff is frustrated and not very dedicated. The counter staff told us at check in that checkin is not until 4pm, and everyone showed up at the same time... well it was 4:15pm and none of the rooms were ready because only one washing machine works and they cant make the beds. We overlooked it and went to dinner. The rooms were prepared and we moved forward with our visit. Saturday we went about our business and returned at midnight to no ones room key working. We went to the front desk to be told it was because we put them in a wallet with a credit card and it demagnetitized them (mind you they worked after dinner the night before and I kept it in the same place then) when we went to the rooms, imagine our surprise that NO ROOM SERVICE had been done, no bed made, no towels, no coffee NOTHING... went back to the desk to hear all about how the day shift sucks and was not his problem... after some discussion, he did finally find some towels and coffee...move forward to Sunday (cant be drama to check out... right) i wait in a line 6 people deep.... to hand my card with the sleeve that has the room number to Stacy (Ms personality plus) who has no clue as to what room i was in.... then wants to know if i had two rooms.... no, one room and i just want it charged to the card on file... ok, but, what room were you in?? I get my receipt, check the total and last 4 of the credit card and walk away. 30 minutes later i come back to see what is keeping the last to check out in our group..... well Ms Stacy has charged her card twice.... when asked to reverse the last transaction.... she claims she cant and noone else on site can. I suggested that she call someone who can, she claims she is out of town.... so find her boss. We all report to someone. This awesome (sarcastic) associate decides to debate the fact that there is someone who can do this. I say to her, some people cant afford for you to charge their card several times and do nothing about it... she needs to be able to feed her kids... she Bob's her head and tools her eyes and says "I will just go to the ATM and withdraw this money from my own account and give it to her" ok... if that is your solution but, i thought the manager was out of town. Sure enough, she did exactally that and came back and slapped the cash into her hand and said, now your happy and I'm happy BYE.... give me a receipt and I'm out. The unprofessional and down right RUDE behavior or the people that work in this building is baffling to me. I am a district manager in multi units of customer service business and just can not believe this is how guests are handled. WHERE IS THE MANAGEMENT??? Maybe they should have skipped the sealcoating in the parking lot and gotten the washing machine issue taken care of on what i was told several times is "the busiest weekend of the year due to the Bristol race"..... i will not return to this Best Western, even as a diamond club member (i stay Best Western exclusively) ever again. Holiday Inn will get my business in Wytheville, Va going forward. I wish i could give...
Read moreArrived there at 1100PM. Toilet was clogged upon arrival. Called the staff at 12am to notify of problem, who showed up at the door with a plunger wrapped in a plastic bag. The employee handed me the plunger as if I was responsible for keeping the pipes clean. After 10 minutes of attempting to fish the prior tennants turd out, I gave up. It didn't work. Called office and was asked, "so what would you like to do" (I thought to myself, "poop"). I asked to be moved. I was told there were no more rooms with King beds (not even upgraded jacuzzi rooms) but that my wife and I could be moved to a room with two queen beds. I looked outside to find the parking lot flooded with a staggering 9 vehicles. I hung the phone up (contiplating leaving the hotel), got dressed, walked down to the office only to be told they found a room with a king bed two doors down from my current room. We had to repack all our stuff and moved to the new room at 1230AM. Next day I placed the "Do not disturb" sign on the door and left the hotel. Wife and I returned to the room to find that someone had been in the room, turned on the AC, opened the curtain, moved my belongings from the chair to the bed, and left a dirty shower towel on the back of the toilet. The towel appeared to be a cleaning towel but our room was not cleaned and bed was not made (which was fine because I put the sign on the door but then why were they in the room to begin with). Wife and I just wanted to leave so I did not try to get any money back or speak to anyone about how poor the service and hotel was. While driving home, I checked my bank account to find that my account was charged 4 different amounts for a two night stay. I was quoted and charged 67 a night and I was also charged two additional charges of 85 dollars (over $300 for two nights). This place is A JOKE.
Pros - Employees were nice and shower water...
Read moreI'll begin by saying we specifically stayed here because my wife had stayed a few years before and had a good experience. The entry is beautiful and check in was good. He said to park behind the building and said our room was in the middle. There are 2 doors on the back of the building. Our room was not in the middle, but very close to one end and, of course, I picked the wrong door. No big deal, but he could have been more specific. The room was spacious but the furniture was very dated and worn. My wife wanted to take a bath, so while I went to get ice, she went in the bathroom. When I came back she called me in to show me mold all over the tub. The bottom of the tub was cracked and all the cracks were black and there was mold in the areas where you put shampoo. I asked for another room, they were very accommodating. The room we got still had the cracked, black tub, but no mold beyond that. The bed was very comfortable. For the money, this was still not a bad place and I would have given it 3 or 4 stars, but the morning was a nightmare. I went to get coffee (which was good) and I did not put the chain on the door when I came back. As my wife was getting dressed an older man walked into our room. I assume he was cleaning, but no knock, no announcement, just walked in. Not good, but still it could be an honest mistake. It was 9 and looked like most guests had checked out. I carried a couple bags out and was retrieving some clothes from the car, and as I came up the hall the man was about to go in our room again!!! I raised my voice and told him to stay out of my room. He asked if we were staying another day, I told him no, but there was still over an hour to check...
