The rooms are older, but if they were at least completely clean upon entering it'd probably be better. There were several things in our bathroom broken like baseboards, clear it's not well taken care of. The vent in the bathroom didn't properly work so the bathroom was very humid & moist anytime someone showered or bathed. The shower didn't have very much hot water the morning we checked out, between 7-9am (the entire 2 hours) on a Sunday. It never got above slightly warmer than room temperature & made for a very unpleasant shower. The TV often cut in & out whenever anyone tried to watch anything. The rooms are very small & there are very few outlets in the room, even appliances of the hotels' (mini fridge, microwave, TV) are connected to an extension cord. The hotel cleaning staff/room service came into our room when we were gone, without permission, & left new towels & things in our bathroom. They didn't make beds or clean anything from what we could tell, & we are unsure why they thought it appropriate to come into the room. After checking out, we noticed an extra charge on our bank account. When I called to inquire, my call was first ended without so much as a hello, then when I called again I was put on hold. When I inquired, I was never asked my name or information, I was put on hold again & transferred. I asked again what was going on & was told that our room was "incredibly dirty." This confused me because I knew we picked up before we left, made sure all trash was in at least a grocery bag by the trash can, & all of our belongings were gone. There was some cereal left on the floor between the beds from our children, but nothing that couldn't have been vacuumed. We're careful about staying anywhere with our children because we don't want to cause more trouble for someone else & teach our children to respect things/property. I asked in what way the room was this dirty & the woman informed me that they had to shampoo because it was "so disgusting & that the owner decided to charge" us. Again, I was confused, but I don't know that there's anything I could do about it & suggested they at least let people know via receipt or something that they've charged people $100 when they say a room is too dirty. The lady was short with me & told me that the cleaning fees are in the contract you sign when you book the room & check in & I stated I was aware that they probably were, but that notice that my account had been charged again & maybe why would've been helpful. She was again incredibly short with me & so I thanked her & ended the call. We won't be staying here again. We travel very frequently & have never had an issue at any other hotel or hotel chain, but seem to find issues at Best Westerns a lot. We stay frequently at the Holiday Inn across the street from this hotel & have never once had an issue. It's much cleaner, updated, & they are always accommodating. Lesson learned that those few extra dollars are well worth it...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreDon't judge this hotel by the exterior... we arrived for our stay on 10/26/22, and were rather perplexed at how the place looked. Window screens flitting in the breeze, the vents were mostly smashed out, and there were even chunks missing out of concrete. Upon entering the hotel and seeing the check-in counter, we became aware of ongoing work to repair things after 2.5-3.5 inch hail in June. The interior was not damaged, and the work is not going on at night, so it will not interfere with your stay.
The hotel inside was excellent -- lobby is spacious and welcoming. Regular community amenities like pool and fitness room were well maintained and equally nice. (We did not see the convention area, but assume that is great too.) Applebee's is in the building as well -- see my separate review for details there... All staff we encountered were very friendly. Also in the lobby is coffee (reg and decaf) and hot water with hot cocoa and various types of tea (I assume it is there 24 hrs a day, as it was there around 11 p.m. and at 6 a.m. when I was going through the lobby.)
Our room was very clean. I am the type of person that brings my own cleaning products, and my white cleaning cloth was spotless -- even after cleaning sneaky spots like the backside of the faucet, the decorative back rim on the vanity counter, and other similar little places. As someone that is called a "germaphobe" by friends and family, I tip my hat the person that cleaned this room.
On the night we stayed, the place was at capacity. (People were being turned away as we were checking in.) As we walked through the hallway and were in our room, we never heard any noise from the rooms around us. Very nice!
Breakfast was very good. Lots of options, very well stocked, and I am guessing the hot food changes daily -- when you check in, go down the hallway between Applebee's and the coffee cart, and you can see the menu on a marker board for the next day. Our morning had sausage, fried eggs, and biscuits and gravy. Sausage was cooked well -- not just microwaved, but had been browned in a pan. I am a very picky person about eggs (scientist that took too many chemistry classes with sulfur fumes), and these were deemed 'good' by me -- which sets the bar high. I did not have the biscuits and gravy, but others in my party did. The biscuits were fluffy and "better than the average hotel breakfast biscuit" and the gravy was well seasoned. A big hit for us is that there were chocolate chips and sprinkles available, so that made the pancakes and syrup for the kids even better!
Next time I am back in the area, we will definitely be staying here! Thank you for the great...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreIām surprised by all the 5/5 and 10/10 reviews. When we arrived they couldnāt find the reservation for the second adjoining room we booked even after showing them our Expedia confirmation two rooms. Thankfully they got us a different room but after the fact found the reservation for room we originally booked. At first I was told their policy didnāt allow us to switch to the room since we had already been in one. Then I was told the room was sold to another guest already. Iām 99% sure they lied to us but have no way to confirm it. When I asked about being refunded for the extra room we had to pay for, I was advised I would have to call Expedia to be reimbursed (sigh, I mean come on seriously what a waste of our time, surely they could have fixed it on their end!) The food was fine but not great. The hotel pool had a ring around the edge from lack of cleanliness. The staff was not friendly (except for the one young gal at the front desk - thank you). The gym was a joke. The treadmill must be from the 90s and was definitely not running knee friendly. The cable machine was broken. The stability balls flat. No mats to do floor core work. The elliptical was old but did the job. Some brighter lights in the gym would go a long way. Overall not impressed by this place. It definitely needs upkeep. Iām not a person with very high standards so me writing this review should say a lot. The only positive to me was the location.
To further add to my prior notes above, I received a voicemail from the manager asking me to take this review down for a free night. Not because of the bad experience we received. They should have offered this from the beginning. I wonder if management did the same thing on a prior review I read about the staff discussing treating for cockroaches on-site this past weekend which has since...
