The most awful experience I have had at a hotel and I lived in hotels for 6 months due to a house fire. I decided to stop for the night instead of drive the 5 hours home after a funeral. After getting settled in the room there was only 2 bath set ups and I wanted to see if they had a crib before I took my travel crib out of my vehicle I went to the front desk - no one was there rang the bell - nothing - after some time I heard voices coming from the laundry room which is directly across from the front desk back office type area. I walked over to see the guy that checked me in chatting with the guy folding the laundry, the front desk guy immediately became aggravated the hotel does not have cribs and reluctantly gave me the bath items I requested. My 10 year old wanted to use the pool, used towels and cups strewn about the pool area- gross! Afterwards my mother and I went to have a cup of coffee, however the creamer had run out - the cabinet door directly below was ajar and you could see there was another creamer. From the coffee station you can see the front desk and again it was unmanned so we decided it would be quicker and easier to just get the creamer out from the open cabinet and attempted to change it but the lid was too tight so we went to the laundry room to look for assistance, as that's where I found the front desk guy the last time - not there. The laundry guy happily assisted us to change the creamer top. That's when the front desk guy came from somewhere yelling that he knows our type, we had no right to get the creamer out and that he's been watching us on the camera the entire time. I asked if you had been watching us then why didn't you come and help which enraged him. I did not feel safe. We went to our room and did not come out until morning. At the breakfast another guest said she had basically the same experience with the front desk guy and that her room had bugs in it and showed us a picture on her phone that she took. I told the assistant manager the next morning who seemed somewhat sympathetic but as per the new norm can't get people to work so unless he wants to work 3 shifts a day ... Completely unacceptable! I also advised Wyndham guest relations of my experience but it is a private run hotel so nothing much they can do!...
Read moreOur trip to York, Maine for a medical intervention required a stay over. A search on the internet brought up Microtel which showed good comments and reasonable prices. An advanced booking and non-cancellable prepayment assured us of the best rates. Upon arriving at the hotel we found a clean older hotel but well-kept and very pleasant staff. Even if there were holes in the cushions in the lobby, the low prices compensated for this. Our stay was for four nights to rest up following the medical intervention. The first two nights went well but disaster struck the third night bringing out the weakness of the enterprise. That evening, the neighborâs television was loud but after complaining around midnight, the night attendant graciously took care of it. Shortly thereafter, one of the questsâ car horn started sounding a very loud alarm. It continuously stopped and started again. A visit to the night attendant showed a young man trying to do his best but clearly not prepared nor guided to handle this situation. This lasted until breakfast the next morning. Other guests also complained. Needless to say, our plans for a restful recovery following the medical intervention were thwarted. Next morning, with the day staff, we requested a cancellation for the remaining night and a compensation for the wasted night. She replied that the manager was out but would look after our request upon her return. Several hours later the manager had returned and instructed the counter clerk to allow a cancellation and refund of the coming night but no compensation or recognition for the previous night. The manager was clearly hesitant to talk to us. While discussing with the manager, it became apparent she was more in a defensive mood of justifying their position rather than finding a solution to assure customer satisfaction. There was no indication of assuring us that preventative measures or procedures would be established in such a situation. We have stayed in many hotels of the Wyndham group before but this one falls short of the service we have come to expect. Our own experience in management tells us that if this enterprise is to continue to grow, customer satisfaction and procedures will have to be part of managementsâ criteria and not only...
Read moreI have been coming here every summer for years, this time (July 2025) The place was falling apart from the moment I parked I saw an air conditioner being held up by piece of wood in the front of the hotel, which I assume was going into the reservation back desk and the window next to it had cardboard taped on it, then I walked inside in the lobby floor was all coming apart. It looks like there were portions of it that were glued back on with some kind of brown sticky glue. Things were moved around. Cheap furniture was put in in some spots now mind you this lobby used to be gorgeous. I also noticed the concrete on the ground walking in the front door where there is the ramp all of the concrete was coming apart in crumbling in pebbles, then upon entering my room, the bathtub was horrendous. It was a walk-in bathtub and it was filthy. There wasnât even a shelf to hang up a shampoo someone bought a light plastic shelf and put it over the showerhead. It looks like it came from the dollar store next the comforter on my bed had a brown stain on it. It looked like chocolate then we were walking around with socks on, and when we went to look at our socks, it was covered in hair. I am so disappointed I donât know if it was because I stayed on the first floor mind you I was given the last room by the back door. Did we sleep at all? No no sleep that night due to the guests coming in and out of the back door or side door Again first time on the first floor I donât know if the upstairs rooms Have changed, but they were always very nice and clean. I am so disappointed. We decided as a family we will be taking a break from the Microtel and will probably be staying in the hotel in Kittery Maine instead even though itâs pricier. Since Covid, this hotel has gone downhill and itâs so sad because it was always our secret little gem low-key and spotless. We did not even see one housekeeper, just a man from the Front desk, cleaning everything up and sweating look like he was doing the job of four. So...
