We got off to a really bad start, as the pick-up we arranged with Feruza (and which we received written confirmation for) did not show up at the airport. In the end I called them and they dispatched another driver down. This wasted about 30 mins of our time and the heat at the arrival area outside the airport was close to 40 degrees! No apologies were offered at the guesthouse when we checked in. The property itself is pretty good for this class of accommodation except that the TV did not work in our room (no. 4). The room is large and clean, beds were comfortable and wifi was pretty good. The reception (either Feruza or her children) attended to our requests helpfully. The guesthouse is located in the older part of town in a quiet residential area close to some of the biggest attractions in Tashkent. it is a 5 minutes walk to Tinchlik Metro. From the guesthouse you can also walk around 20 mins to the Harzst Immam Complex /Square (Tashkent's Registan) and the library which contains the world's oldest Koran. From the Complex /Square you can walk around 20 mins to the Chorsu Bazaar. There are some nice cheap local restaurants just mins walk away on either side of the main road close to the guesthouse and a super honest grocery store with listed prices (beware of purchasing items in small shops in Tashkent if you don't speak Uzbek or Russian- they will charge double the local price). The process of check-in and check-out was pretty smooth. Feruza arranged a taxi for us at 5.15am and gave us a simple packed breakfast to eat at the airport - I was amazed and super impressed that that the taxi driver she called actually used the meter (rarity in Tashkent if you are not local) and gave...
Read moreAs all previous reviews have mentioned, the B+B is in the old part of Tashkent and close to the metro and quite a large , new supermarket. From this point of view, it's convenient although out from the centre. The host was very friendly and the breakfast a variety of local dishes which is presented to you, no choice or selection service here. This means that you need new or knew exactly what you would be getting for breakfast, which made it quite interesting. |The room was large, so much so that even with the air conditioning on, the room was quite warm at night. It was dated- a few simple things would have improved it, such attaching the curtains to the hooks at the end or, better still, replacing the curtains with darker ones. The TV, which was apparently new, couldn't get a signal but that didn't bother us. It is budget accommodation and for that it's more than adequate, just realise that things might be a little rough...
