Hoang Van Hotel — Hotel in Đồng Văn Town

This hotel was booked for me as part of the Ha Giang motorbike loop trip with a company called Crossing Vietnam. Do not use this company as they are terrible. |The hotel had no restaurant , nor does it serve any breakfast. None of the staff working in the hotel speak a word of English. The bathroom area was filthy. I had a room overlooking the side of the building with bars on the window. |I stayed two nights and found the place to be extremely soulless. On the first evening I asked the receptionist, who was a male in his late 20s if he had a USB plug as I had forgotten to pack mine. I used google translate to do this. As soon as he could see I did not speak Vietnamese he had zero interest in helping me. He simply said NO in a raised voice before I had completed my sentence. I then tried to show him a photograph of the item which he refused to look at. He continued to say “NO” and started to shout it. I tried to persevere as I have noticed that sadly this is generally the way in Vietnam. I have travelled extensively worldwide and am a travel writer , who had spent many years travelling around Asia and lives in India, however I have never known a country so rude in all my travels. So I didn’t take too much offence to what I witnessed as an every day occurrence in Vietnam from someone in the service industry. However when he then got his phone out and started to play a game on it while I was still trying to get some help was just beyond ignorant. It took all my strength to not swipe the phone out of his hand and smash it on the floor. ||My room was not cleaned on the second day and despite attempting to ask a different member of staff to provide toilet paper it never arrived. I was given quarter of a roll on day one. The beds are hard. The hot water runs out quite quickly. ||On my second night ( I had sadly been forced to stay two nights due to an injury doing the Ha Giang loop, I was in bed at 1am with a locked bedroom door. When two men barged into my bedroom whilst I was naked in bed. When I screamed instead of running out they began shouting. And eventually left. I have no idea wether they were staff , i presume they were because tdoor was locked and they used a skeleton key. If not staff then Basically all the keys to This hotel open all the guest doors. Which means your belongings are not safe and it also may not be safe for solo female travellers for this reason. I think they only reason these men ran was because I screamed so quickly. Perhaps they were hoping to find me asleep. ||The only positive thing to say about this hotel is that the WiFi works. ||Sadly i think the other hotels in this area are the same. There is no hotel where the owner had any pride in what they provide to the guest or any respect for the customer. ||Ps: avoid booking a tour with Crossing Vietnam as this is the kind of establishment they will...

Stayed here for one evening while doing the Ha giang loop.|On the upside unlike the other nights we did get a room to ourselves which was great. |The room was on the 5th floor, had a small window overlooking a rice field was was pleasant. The bed was comfy and had a lovely thick duvet with big pillows which was welcome on the chilly evening.|The bathroom was a box, so small and although it had a shower there was no separate area so the whole room was bound to get flooded so we didn't bother. The tiny window doesn't open to allow any ventilation and let's lots of light into the bedroom area as soon as the sun comes up.|Probably the worst thing for us was the noise pollution, if it wasn't beeping horns all night, some dodgy karaoke singing it was hearing the neighbours on the same floor as if you were in the room with them, we live on Hanoi and so are used to traffic and noise but this was...

This is a typical Vietnamese / Asian style budget hotel. ||Normally I would only give it three stars, but the room was very clean and modern.||Although the young lady at the front desk spoke very little English she was very nice and helpful. She was kind enough to organize a mini-bus which picked me up at the hotel.||The Wi-Fi, hot water and television all worked fine.||The only negative point: the room was very small. Fine for a few nights, but otherwise I would have requested a larget one.||All in all: a perfectly fine choice for budget travelers...
