We were not entirely satisfied with our stay at this homestay. There were several reasons why one should re-consider before booking this place. First the place is in a pretty remote part of Ben Tre where finding taxis through Xanh, Vinasun, etc. is pretty tricky. On more than one occasion we struggled to get cab to get to Ben Tre centre or some place. Since it is quite a bit of walk to nearest restaurant/centre this presents a problem. This is in addition to the fact that the place is not named as Le Mekong Bleu which makes it difficult to find (named something else). Secondly, the place did not seem to be very cleanly maintained or well equipped. We saw more than 1 instance of some cleaning required — a cockroach died in the bathroom (which can happen), water bottle tops not appearing to be clean, bathroom smelling humid or like an old place. Thirdly we found the price to be quite expensive (€35) and now that we see booking.com it is even higher (€53) per room. For that price it is easy to get 4 star hotel rooms in centre of Ben Tre for the night. Maybe the price is high due to foreigners not minding such high prices and choosing home like treatment/ guidance, but local vietnamese might want to reconsider before choosing this place. Service was good though and helpful owner. I would not choose this place if we were to revisit Benh Tre with the same budget unless the owner can solve for some of...
Read moreVery nice, familiar homestay in the middle of the greenery of Ben Tre. Summer and her family are very lovely, caring and helpful. She is well prepared for her guests with lots of tips for the surrounding area, such as cycling routes, restaurants, boat trips...
We did everything with the bicycles, which are available free of charge. The city center is about 10 minutes by bike (via bridge 1 - but you have to carry the bikes up and down a few stairs). The city is bigger and busier than you might first think. You can find everything here. We didn't regret our decision to stay in a somewhat remote and quiet location.
Our room was well equipped. We particularly enjoyed the small terrace. There is also a shared kitchen, fridge, drinkable water etc. available. In the morning there was a homemade breakfast that you order the day before (there are also vegetarian options). There is the option for homemade lunch and dinner, but we didn't use this as we were out a lot and had already eaten. The bed is rather hard - we like it, but it may not be for everyone. However, the bed makes loud noises when you turn over. That would be easy to fix and would add another level of comfort. But that's all we have to...
Read moreWe had an excellent stay at Le Mékong Bleu, Summer and her family made us feel very welcome and made our visit to Ben Tre very special.
Summer and her family were incredibly helpful in making our stay as comfortable as possible. Summer was also able to communicate with me in fluent English as well as my girlfriend and her sister in fluent French. We were offered lots of advice about the local area and we could also book tours through Summer which was also excellent.
The family also offer guests lunch and/ or dinner, we decided to have a local hotpot dinner which was very tasty. There were many local options to choose from for breakfast which were equally as tasty.
The Homestay and the rooms are charming, spacious, clean and well equipped. The common areas are beautiful and peaceful.
Bicycles were provided feee of charge which we found useful to explore the local area.
To conclude, I cannot recommend Le Mékong Bleu...
