Bong Bang Homestay 2 — Hotel in Hà Giang Province

The Pho Bros scooter club rolled into Bống Bang Homestay like soaked rats, dripping with rain and road dust, desperate for shelter and a stiff drink. We found refuge in the venue’s beer garden - a dining area wrapped in greenery, nestled among trees and vibrant flowers, with a tranquil pond completing the scene. Our host Mạnh and his crew welcomed us like old friends, making sure our cups never ran dry and the plates kept coming.

Dinner was a glorious spread: duck, goat, crispy tofu, vegetables, and those damn spring rolls that could bring a tear to a glass eye. And just when we thought it couldn’t get better, they pulled off a morning miracle—a steaming bowl of pho that was easily the best we’d had on this godforsaken loop. It wasn’t even on the menu, but they made it happen, because that’s the kind of operation they’re running here.

Mạnh, the man with a plan, knows every party worth crashing within a mile radius and isn’t shy about throwing back a shot of happy water if you’re game.

Stay in Nov 2023 in the private room for 1 night. ||Pros:|-comfortable bed. pillow was ok but could be lower. |-shower pressure is good and it's further from the toilet so it doesn't get wet|-shower gel and shampoo provided|-breakfast is not included but for 30k pp it is self serve style with fried rice, pancake, cucumber/tomato, bread and fried egg. |-the receptionist boy's English is quite good, can actually communicate and understand each other. so in this respect the service is good. |-location is good. walking distance to other restaurants around the area|-good value for money|-they responded very fast when booking and they even checked on the day of arrival if we still need the room. ||cons:|-the curtain is kind of thin so people can see the shadow outline of you from the outside at night if the light is on. |-can get rowdy until late maybe midnight as a lot of groups come here |-mosquitoes around the little lake/pond place which is in front of the rooms|-i thought the dinner was okay, nothing too special, the local restaurants around i felt were better. |-have to email or message them to book, no online platform |-in order to connect to the wifi you need to go to the reception to scan the qr...

Be aware of the towel policy: you need to pay a deposit when you get one, and if you return it dirty, they deduct from your deposit. This was unusual and not something I have encountered elsewhere.

An okay accommodation for those doing the loop. Tour groups from agencies also stay here, which is fine, but if you are traveling independently, like we were, interaction with them is limited as they are seated at separate tables during the family dinner. The groups also tend to host parties afterward, so this may not be the best choice if you are looking for peace and quiet.
