There are several aspects to this review, one is about the accommodation itself and the other is the Ha Giang Loop Tour that we booked through Lila Inn.
Accomodation The door rooms are large and spacious with lockable storage under the beds. The air conditioning works really well and the beds are comfortable and clean.
The shared bathrooms are plentiful, lots of showers and toilets. Well built and look modern and clean. Towels are provided but you will need your own shower gel.
The couples bungalow is amazing. Comfortable beds, large space, nice bathroom and shower.
The staff are so friendly and lovely. We initially had a dorm room booked but someone checked out early. We were upgraded even though we were late getting back to the hostel. Liam stayed up and helped us into the new room.
You are a walkable distance from town, but taxis are easy to arrange at reception. Breakfast is lovely, you can also buy snacks and drinks from the kitchen.
Tour We went on the Ha Giang Loop Tour. We were told that they try and arrange small groups. It was just myself and my partner on the trip (perfect!). Everything is well organised and prepared in the morning. Water is provided and the drivers help you get everything onto the bikes.
Before you leave, your large bags can stay at the hostel. If you have a gym padlock you can secure it. Otherwise it is in a private room in the hostel in robust cages (my suitcase lock wasn't large enough to fit).
The logistics were very well organised and the drivers (Long and Ninh) were able to get us to the sites at least 30 minutes before any other group. This meant that we were able to have a bespoke and quiet trip. It felt more special and intimate, plus it felt like real Vietnam.
Long and Ninh made us feel like family rather than a tour group. Unlike other guides, they ate with us, socialised with us, and gave us an amazing tour of the Ha Giang region. They took us to the border of China, to a secluded waterfall (it was only myself and my partner here), and to amazing views of rice fields, mountains and rivers.
The accommodation on the tour was spectacular. We went for the couples private rooms (rather than dorms). The views were amazing, locations spectacular, and the food was brilliant. A great addition is the free flowing happy water and local hospitality.
Summary I cannot recommend Lila Inn enough. If you are wanting to be looked after on a small tour around the Ha Giang Loop with brilliant drivers, or if you are after a welcoming lovely place to stay in Ha Giang; Lila Inn is the...
Read moreTL;DR Amazing hostel staffed with amazing people. Incredible 3-day tour with trustworthy guides and impeccable views. Don't hesitate to book.
We're an elder millennial couple that booked the 3-days Ha Giang Loop Explorers Journey with private room and vegan meals. We set out as a larger group of 12 people and then split off into 2 smaller groups based on the length of our loop journey. We ended up in a smaller group of 5 people, each with our own easyrider. We stayed in private rooms at Lila Inn before the journey, and throughout the loop. The accommodations had stunning views, beds were comfortable, and food was good. Vegan lunches and dinners were usually a combo of veg, tofu, and rice, but balanced vegan breakfasts seemed to be harder to accommodate. Our easyriders, Tanh and Dung, were so friendly and took excellent care of us. Our group leader easyrider was Trai, who was clearly an expert on the road and spoke English well. It was obvious that Trai and the team took great care and pride to keep us safely on schedule and to have fun. There are not really any words to describe the views and beauty of northern Vietnam and the Ha Giang province. It really needs to be witnessed, and the motorbikes were a wonderful way to see the beauty and experience the local ethnic villages and cultures.
Last, but certainly not least, the customer service was outstanding and deserves its own note. Staff at the hostel and the easyriders were so kind and accommodating. We initially made a booking error, and they corrected our error as soon as we reached out. They answered our questions and helped us book our bus back to Hanoi, so we could optimize our itinerary. Prior to our stay, they set up a WhatsApp chat for us to use if there were any issues during the loop. We had a single issue with our vegan diet not being accommodated at breakfast one morning, and there was an immediate solution where our group went into town a little earlier and the easyriders bought us fresh fruit (that we chose) at the local market. At the end of our amazing journey, we were escorted to the bus stop (just down the road) and they offered to carry our bags there. Liem and his team were so professional, and we are so happy we chose Lila Inn and their motorbike tour to experience Ha Giang and all it has to offer. Plus, they have the...
Read moreSo good I am bringing my two sons (19, 25) on a tour in two weeks!
There are no videos or reviews that can do justice this experience. It was truly awesome.

My Summary: The landscape is just breathtaking at every turn. the hosts along the way were so gracious and warm. my Easy Rider - Doi - was such a safe and skilled driver, he was extremely respectful and kind, and he was a lot of fun. Liam of Lila Inn tailors an experience to what you want. I scheduled a 7-day trip, and when I arrived to start I was the only customer, but the trip carried on. So I got a private tour, with the kindest guide. Liam is supportive in organizing travel to and from Ha Giang, like my daytime bus back to Hanoi. He is continually in touch during the tour and adjusts plans as needed. I’d planned a 7-day trip, but after Day 1, realized I needed to ride fewer miles than what was planned. Liam adapted the trip for me and so I did the 4-day itinerary over six days. This meant more time to do activities, which I loved. Thank you Liam! I was pointed to Lila Inn and Tours by a host of a very highly rated homestay who said he hears about all the tour groups from guests. You can stay at Lila Inn before or after your stay either in a hostel dorm or a private room. There’s a lovely restaurant on site, de l’Etelle, with a gourmet breakfast. note: We were passed by huge groups of bikes from other tour groups, whose drivers passed us while speeding, on corners, and without beeping. Yikes! This experience was so amazing for me that my two sons finally agreed to join me in Vietnam after hearing about it. We are going on a tour in a few weeks, with Liam at Lila Inn Tours!
Update: one month later… My sons and I did a six-day tour from Sapa through Ha Giang to Cao Bang, and it was an experience of a lifetime. The company and guides were very supportive when my son had health issues and we had to change plans - in real time, without planning ahead. I appreciate how accommodating Lila Tours was.
The guides made the experience so much fun for us all, and we had fun learning a few Vietnamese words and...
