Actually, this accommodation is 5/5 except for one major unpleasant situation imposed upon me by the hotel boss (he claimed he was) at the end of my stay.
The hotel is very near the airport, easy to find, and generally quickly replies to inquiries. The check-in was smooth, and they have an available airport transfer which is convenient.
The room was clean except for the water kettle that still had water in it which made me wonder if the cleaning person truly paid attention to preparing the room for the next guest.
Reviews of the property have always helped me in my decisions to book accommodations or any services I need in my travel. I will pay it forward, especially for female solo travelers and to help the hostel think about how they can improve.
The TURN-OFF, truly inappropriate incident I experienced from this accommodation.
I booked from the hotel an airport transfer service at 11:30 PM. The car arrived promptly. When I was seated inside the driver introduced himself as the boss of the hotel. He showed me his phone, showing his hotel CCTV, and told me that he saw me waiting. Since the speaking communication was not very clear to me, I interpreted it as "that must be the reason how he knew I was already waiting" but it was creepy since I didn't actually understand what he said but only showed the CCTV and said that he saw me sitting on the chair. Then he said something more that I could not understand. He asked if I have a google map on my phone and asked for my phone. I understood it as he wanted to show an address on google Maps. It turned out he opened the address of the hostel, clicked reviews, and rated all criteria in the review 5 stars. He gave back to me the phone and asked me to write a short review. He kept apologizing and kept saying just for 1 minute.
He would not start the car until I would finish writing my review. He asked for my phone and read what I wrote in the review. It feels like he has to approve of it first. After reading my review, he starts the car to bring me to the airport. I was a solo traveler, a female, it was 11:30 PM.
The means of getting good reviews is wrong from all angles.
I just hope with this review, the owner will feel shame for their method of getting reviews. I have seen 2 reviews here that gave the same feedback about this hotel's way of getting their...
Read moreSummary: I can’t say enough about the service here! Our room was very nice as well. I’d recommend this place to any of my friends/family traveling through Hanoi.
My partner and I arrived here after a long day of traveling from Cat Ba to Hanoi with food poisoning. We were both extremely sick all day but had to make our way to Hanoi to catch a flight the next morning. When we arrived at the hotel, the lady at reception (I didn’t catch her name) immediately noticed something was wrong and proceeded to give us medicine and tea.
When we got into the room, my partner realized he lost his phone. We used find my iPhone to see that it was still in the Grab and that the Grab driver had gone to the airport. A very helpful man at the hotel organized getting his phone back and actually sent someone out on a bike to retrieve it for him. We got the phone back within the hour. I can’t believe how helpful the staff was here, they went way above and beyond!!
The room was probably the nicest place we stayed in during our entire trip. Very clean, spacious, nice bed. I would absolutely recommend if this hostel/hotel if you need a place to stay near the airport. There is airplane noise every hour or so considering the proximity to the airport. I slept fine with a pair of ear plugs (apart from still getting over food poisoning).
Edit: after reading some of the other reviews, I will echo what another traveller said about the boss(?) asking me to review the hotel. The man did ask to see my phone and pulled up the hotel on Google Maps. He asked me to please leave a review and seemed a bit flustered when I said I would do it in the airport. I didn’t find the interaction that strange, but I was with a partner and wasn’t waiting on this man to start the car before leaving (from another review). I know how important these reviews are for businesses so I’m happy to leave one, especially since we did receive truly wonderful service. I hope that the method of asking for reviews remains friendly...
Read moreStayed only for a night and it was great value for money, a few kms from Hanoi Airport. Grab taxi cost us about 60,000 Dong.
Family room had 2 large beds, air-conditioning was ok but could be cooler. It was quite hot outside so maybe it took a toll on the air-con too. Room also had a balcony.
Fridge was super cool. Kettle provided in the room. Wifi very good. And here's the big surprise - the TV had working Netflix and YouTube. Amazing feature.
Owner is friendly and replies to all emails promptly. A student checked us in who is from America and learning the Vietnamese language. She was amazing friendly, forgot to get her name. My compliments to her pleasant behaviour and nature.
Ok so cutting 1 star because of 3 things -
There was no elevator. Could be an issue for some. Also, this is a hostel, but no common microwave available.
A microwave in the kitchen or lobby area would make it so much convenient for the guests. This suggestion needs to be taken! Because there is not much option to eat around, no real supermarket either.
And since the hotel is near the main highway, there is constant noise from traffic until late night.
Would also suggest if the hotel could have a paid coffee machine in the lobby.
Otherwise it was fantastic value for money near...
