The best thing abt this accommodation is the free use of bicycle, which is necessary to travel to the old town (10mins ride), the beaches (45mins ride), the islets (30mins ride), etc.||||The worst thing is that its main gate is locked up at night, so the owners always need to open the gate for you especially if you are going out (or returning!) late. I really didn't want to have to disturb them with my movements, but they insisted that I could just call them on the telephone (even though all of them spoke only minimal English, and even though my SIM card was data-only) if nobody answers the door; but of course I wasn't about to risk being locked out, or feel guilty about having to wake up the owners. Both the main gate and my room door emit very loud sustained creaks as they open/close; the lack of privacy incoming/outgoing of the house (and the feeling of being locked in at night) made me feel resentful that the property was not clearly listed as a homestay. This was a definite deal-breaker.||||The room looks nice and the bed is clean and comfortable.||||But the wardrobe is musty and dusty, so I had to hang my hangers on the fan grille. Some of the surfaces in the room were quite dusty, so I had to spend 10 mins wiping them clean before I could unpack and settle in.||||My bathroom was perpetually flooded, taking a long time to drain. Hot water was intermittent even when the heater had been on for 30mins; I had to shower with cold water twice at night as I didn't want to waste time bothering the owners.||||There were spiders and mozzies in the room, but luckily not vicious.||||My room was relatively peaceful at night, but there was quite a din (owners talking very loudly) when I was trying to sleep in one morning before checkout. This is probably their usual volume at that time of day...
Read moreMy boyfriend and I have been travelling for 6 months and this is my favourite place we've stayed in yet. With family and friends visiting us, this was an idea place for a big group - we each had a very spacious and comfortable double room with four of the 6 of us having a very large balcony or outdoor area. My boyfriend and I had the smallest of the rooms which was still fine as there is plenty of outdoor space to relax with a tea or coffee. The beds are soft, shower is warm and strong and the cleanliness is perfect. Being a tiny way out from the centre, you have the benefit of little noise but then with a grab car or just a 15 minute walk you're right in the centre of town. They also provide free bicycles to use which is a great service.||The main reason however why I enjoyed this stay so much was the people who run the villa. They are just the kindest, sweetest people ever - always there to give you some helpful tips and have a genuine conversation with you. They let us borrow their guitar for some evening entertainment which was great and made us a lovely Asian breakfast In the morning for a very reasonable charge which I would highly recommend going for.||Tony (I hope I spelt this right!!) was especially brilliant - she was so bright and bubbly and gave us loads of recommendations for places to go even after we were leaving Hoi An. Sometimes in hotels you feel like staff are not actually interested at all and will only help you if it benefits them too but this family we're just so genuinely lovely. Tony even made me a lining for my helmet out of leaflets after I left my helmet upside down outside in the rain...thank you again!! 😂||I hope to be back in Hoi An in a few weeks with my brother and if we do manage to, I will not hesitate to book rooms here again - everything was...
Read moreI heard about this new Villa in Hoi An owned by Thanh and Ha the former owners of La Me Resturant so i thought i would stay fo a night and enjoy a home cooked breakfast during my stay in Hoi An.||The Homestay is very new and I believe I was one of the first customers to take lodgings.||The Standard Room was large and comfortable and I had a verandah which overlooked the very well kept garden. The bed was very comfortable with good quality pillows. The bathroom was large and the hot water and water pressure was very good.||The homestay is situated about 10 minutes walk to the Ancient Town or you can use one of the many bicycles available.||This is a quiet alternative for accomodation near Hoi An and is much quieter than many others i have stayed at during the years i have been coming to Hoi An.||There is a very good Duck soup eatery on the sidewalk of Cua Dai - Hoi An only 1 minutes walk away.||I stayed on a weeknight but Thanh informed me that she invites all guests to join them in a home cooked meal on the weekend. Thanh provides both Western and Asian breakfasts as part of the package.||I can recommend this Villa for solo, couples and family travellers on a budget. Vinh the son of Thanh and Ha works on the reception. ||Thanks for my yummy breakfast. i will be sure to stay again next time i come to Hoi An. Tip: by the way make sure you inform them if you wish to take an early morning walk or swim at the beach because they lock the entrance...
