Loved this vacation! Here is breakdown of the trip and I will give you an honest perspective in each category.
Transportation: We opted to use the complimentary Vinbus tickets. Download or screen shot each ticket because you can use it until you check out (don't wait like I did at arrival.) Walk to the domestic terminal and wait in the outside coffee shop for the Vinbus. Seriously wait - it is so much easier, cleaner, air conditioned, and the staff is friendlier.
We could not locate the Green Vinbus and with communication limitations - we were just waved away by the locals at the airport. We talked with a lady at a counter selling tickets. She denied knowing about the Vinbus but promised to get us close. No sooner did we sit on the charter bus than we see a Green Vinbus. The staff denied it was the correct bus and off we went on a city charted bus. They left of us at the bus hub and pointed to a sign and off they went. We waited for the Vinbus and it rolled up about 30 minutes later - and you guessed it it was a Green Vinbus. 🤦🏻♀️
Vinbus is easy peasy curb to curb transport. It is worth the wait.
Registration: This part for all that it looked confusing with 4 different resorts was efficient. Our luggage was checked in to arrive 2 hours later at our room. We got to select between speed boat taxi to the island or gondolas. We went by speed boat there and gondolas back. I preferred the gondolas since it was just my family in one and we weren't split up for seating.
This is the second and last glitch in the whole trip. My passport and online booking ID did not match. This caused some confusion and they originallysaid they could nit let us check-in. It is a first for someone who does a lot of traveling. They staff was very helpful and they even called the booking company. They let us proceed with check-in and off we went.
Accommodations: We booked the villa and just wow! We had great views of the ocean and our own pool. A quick call got us curbside buggy service to wherever we wanted to go on the island.
The resort itself was well manicured and and we always saw staff cleaning. Our pool and villa garden was tended to each morning.
The rooms were spacious and each one looked out at the ocean. There was a fridge and mini kitchen. We saw in room dining as an option but we went out.
Food: I saw a post that everything was a buffet but that truly depended on the restaurant you picked. Our room had breakfast included and that was a buffet. There was a fancy restaurant that had a menu and of course all the poolside bars offered snack like foods.
We opted to try other restaurants on the island and found ourselves back that the Harbour several times. The Harbours had a street food section that was run by locals. It was cheap and delicious. Most places will point at a picture menu of what you ordered to confirm - trust me you want this practice as our orders usually got mixed up.
Leisure activities: Vinwonders. My kids loved the alpine coaster and water park the most. They went everyday. This was included in our room and it was great to keep everyone entertained. We focused on wellness and relaxation - gym, beach, walks, and spa. It was lovely.
Shopping: While there are boutiques at the hotels/resorts - you don't even have to leave to the island to find shopping. Go to the Harbour. We stocked up on tennis shoes and crocs. There might be better prices on the mainland but it was too convenient to pass up.
Watersports: There was diving, snorkeling, parasailing, jet skis, banana boats, submarine tour, ocean floor walking, and flyboards. So much to choose from. They even offer drone recording of your experience.
We really loved this vacation...
Read moreBig resort. Loads of Russian guests. Everyone nice. The buffet breakfast is lovely and varied and spread out so it takes the numbers very well. In fact everywhere takes the numbers very well considering the size of the resort. We didn’t queue for anything aside the golf buggies and that wasn’t more than 5 minutes a time.
It’s a fairly slick system here and the wow factor of arriving by cable car and wandering through VinPearl Harbour was ‘everything’ to my teenage kids, who were just speechless and giddy with excitement at the opulence of the main reception on the mainland and then the main downtown bit.
Struggled to get a western meal down at the harbour bit, despite there being literally hundreds of empty restaurant units and dozens of small Vietnamese eateries. The hotel buffet was nice and varied and cost 750,000 VND pp. I think a lot of people here were on the All Inclusive package, which seemed quite busy in the evenings. Not a bad choice as the food standard was good. The A La Carte restuarant was also nice. We were the only table in there for most of our meal. We ended up going to Nha Trang on the mainland for the majority of our evening meals, which was a fun expedition, nicer dinner ambience with atmosphere, and it allowed us to shop at the markets too. Speedboat back after 10pm, which was also fun. Then the golf buggy. Slick system but allow 20mins all in. When you’re tired, the hotel feels like it’s the other end of the world.
The pools are massive. The beach and sea were gorgeous here until we went to the sister hotel to do some watersports at the ‘VinPearl Resort & Spa’ which has a much nicer, calmer beach with even clearer sea water and less waves. We’d recommend staying there over here 1000% just based on the sea, which is mainland-facing not sea-facing so less seaweed, less current, and possibly cleaner too, albeit both hotels had people with nets pulling rubbish out of the sea the whole time which was great. Just enough beachbeds to go round at both. The staff weren’t particularly keen to remove towels from discarded sunloungers and people did seem to put their towels on them before we woke up but people didn’t seem to stay at them too long, so we always found somewhere to sit despite always being the last to the beach.
Didn’t like the rooms one bit. Big and old. One look at our very dated ‘deluxe rooms’ with enormous shared balconies (which would have been great if our kids were put in the room next door on the interconnecting side not the other side) and we considered moving or upgrading to a beach villa but ultimately we stayed put as we weren’t here that long as there’s plenty to do other than sit in our rooms all day. The rooms were good value for what we got overall. But the room standard and bathroom standard definitely didn’t live up to the standard of everywhere else which was pretty high. So if you’re looking to stay here consider a newer room, if they offer them. We didn’t check out the VinPearl Luxury — another sister hotel — but by the name this one suggests it may have newer rooms. All in all a...
Read moreWe have just began our stay at Vinpearl Resort Bay and the experience so far have been extremely disappointing.
Service was lacking and the entire checking in process was a nightmare, it required more steps than checking in at an international airport and took nearly 2 hours before we made it to our rooms.
The entire family was exhausted by the time we arrived at our seaview villa. We paid for a 5 star experience but received subpar service and a truly disappointing impression.
After arriving at cable car reception on main land, no staff attended to our family, staff avoided eye contact and did not want to help. We had to move our own luggage from transport into reception and had to ask staff for help. We had a lot of luggage, a stroller, 2 young children and 4 elderly people. Even after we asked for assistance, no one attended to us. It was chaotic and lacked organisation. No one acknowledged me at the check in counter although I was the only person there, staff had their heads down and all looked to busy to see me until their supervisor asked them to serve me. The attendant could not find our booking. It turned out they were looking for our booking under the “resort” system which apparently is completely separate to the “resort bay” system. They were looking under the wrong resort even though we waiting at the correct counter. This was very frustrating. At the gate to board the cable car to the island, our face ID were not recognised due to staff error with the registration process. Our family of 8 were left stuck at the terminal in the hot and stuffy station. After arriving at the cable car terminal on the island we had to walk in the open sun to catch an electric car to the another reception. There was no one there to direct and we had to ask for directions. Then we had to check in again at another reception, after the checking in was done. We were not given access to our villa because it was 5 minutes before the check in time of 2pm! Staff asked us to come back to reception again in 5 minutes when it is 2pm and line up again which was utterly ridiculous. Our luggage arrived to the room 20mins late. The entire 3 bedroom villa had total of 2 coffee/tea cups. Private pool had no towels. For the price we paid, what we received was an empty villa with the bare minimal amenities.
A truly sub standard experience. This is the second time we have been to Vinpearl Nha Trang and we have also been to every Vinpearl in VN. This by far have been the worst experience. Manager have...
