I was here with my friends for a three nights stay (06/06-08/06), we were first upgraded from two superior double room to the deluxe double room. The rooms were clean and well-kept and the ala carte breakfast was great. But oh god, these are insufficient to make up for the unpleasant stay here. Why would I say so? Read on and you will understand.
I was very displeased by how from the start, the air-con was already not functioning properly in one of the rooms. Even though they placed a fan inside, it was of little help when it is just contributing hot wind. Imagine spending a night, unable to fall asleep, sweating because of the heat!!! The staff were super apologetic about it and offered to switch the room for us. The air con worked fine in the room we got switched to.
Here comes the enraging part. We experienced a power failure at approximately 11pm without fail every night. The power came back only around 1am, which means that we either spent two hours in the suffocating heat of the room (torchlight was the only source of light), or head outside to sit in the breeze but get bitten by the mosquitoes.
--- On a positive note, because of this incident, we managed to do star-gazing here because it is dark enough with the blackout. (:
I'm uncertain whether we were unlucky to experience their occasional power shortage just in time while we were here, or this has been a persistent issue all along since it is in the suburban.
There weren't any reviews previously highlighting such a problem, and I'm unsure why the rest of the guests staying here during the same period of stay did not write a review about such an experience. No explanation was provided by the staff as well about the black-out.
The spoilt air con coupled with the power failure incident gave us such a horrible experience here. The reason why I'm writing this after a month is because I still feel agitated about the stay, even after such a long time.
I want people who intends to visit Ninh Bình to aware of such an issue, as I do not put off the fact that there might be other places, not just mua caves ecolodge who did face such a problem and pose an inconvenience to the guests.
A 10% discount was given to us, BUT ONLY when we mentioned about the three nights of power failure. It's a mere 10% for three nights of disrupted sleep and hassle created. Mua Caves Ecolodge has...
Read moreIt was a nightmare! The room was so dirty and the walls were moldy. The floors of the room had probably only been swept with a brush for the last few years, and they had not been washed a long time ago. The corners of the wall and the floor were so dirty that my eyes had never seen such a thing. There were large patches of mold everywhere on the walls and life growing on them. The humidity was very high in the rooms, it is not healthy to stay in such a room. The glass is the same as the surfaces, they haven't been washed in a long time. It was clear from the Agoda pictures that my wife and I would have a nice and romantic two nights with a great bathroom and among the mountains :) But the reality was that we got the worst hotel experience for expensive money. If you want to spend the night among the mountains, there are very beautiful and clean homestays around. After informing the hotel about the problem, we were given a family room in the main building. The situation was visually better there, because the walls were covered with wood, but I believe that the problematic mold was still there, because the room was very humid. at least didn't see it. The breakfast was very minimal and we missed the second breakfast altogether. The time for breakfast was stated to be 7-9, when we got there at 7:05, the employees were just preparing the meal. They said it would take another 5 minutes. At 7:17 nothing was ready there yet. Since we had to get on the train, we took an apple and a banana and left. Please don't stay at that hotel, it...
Read moreThis eco lodge has several dogs caged in tight chicken cages, sleeping on bare wires l, with no bedding, with no water or food supplied all day in horrible heat and humidity. I was heartbroken. They care more about people not picking lotus flowers than live animals. Not only were the dogs in cages, they had less than 10 inch long chain on them for no reason whatsoever. I stuck my tiny hand in the cage to straighten out the bowl so I could pour some water in there, the dogs chain was barely long enough to stick his face in the bowl!!!!! Dog drank the water like it never seen water before. Even tho it was absolutely panicked when he saw my hand, like he never seen humans before. It was days ago and my heart hurts to this day. I'm thinking these are the property guard dogs that maybe possibly get let out at night, but still, for the love of God, provide them with some water during the day. Bowls were chewed up and turned over from the dogs searching for it! I was thinking of booking a stay there in the future, now I just can't. I hope more people see this, and more people protest they were in the property parking spot by...
