If you’re looking for a homestay that cares for their patrons, affordable and is well looked after, look no further! Son is the host of this lovely homestay, and let me tell you, he welcomes you with open arms. From the moment you make a booking, he is helping you by sending you local restaurants, bars, tours, travel and more! When you arrive, he is there to welcome you with a smile and making sure you are feeling assured and comfortable!
Before I speak about the rooms and facilities, I want to praise the host a little bit more. I became extremely unwell in the middle of my stay. I had driven on a scooter with my partner, an hour away to the VinWonder theme park, that morning, thinking I would be okay to drive home. I was very ill and was not going to be able to drive home. I messaged Son to find out if there was a way to get the scooter home. He managed to organise someone to pick us up and the scooter. He also brought fresh coconut water, turmeric and ginger tea, and home-made rice porridge to our room for the next two nights to help me get better from my illness. He had also brought fresh papaya to our room (before he knew I was ill and which I’m still sad I couldn’t have) which looked amazing! We had initially booked a room with only a bed, in a small bungalow. Son was able to have us transferred to a larger room with an attached bathroom, that night.
Son went absolutely far and above any expectation there was of him as a host. There was never anything that was too much of an ask for him and he helped in every way he possibly could. We are so glad we stayed with him.
The rooms/bungalows are very tidy and clean and the bathrooms were also very clean and tidy! Some bungalows do not have bathrooms attached and therefore have shared, outside bathrooms. There are options for larger bungalows with an attached room. All options are fantastic - it all just depends on your level of desire.
The location is in the south of the island, away from the hustle and bustle, but still close enough to the lovely new Sunset Town Markets - where you can get some great options for dinner. The Homestay is very quiet and has a lovely pool where you can escape the heat.
If you’re looking for an affordable, homely, relaxing and helpful place to stay while in Phu Quoc, you won’t go wrong with Phu Nam Homestay!
Thank you for all your help, Son! It...
Read moreIf you want to relax away from all the touristic crowds go to this location. Exceptionally friendly and laid back place with a self service kitchen under a few coconut trees. Little huts, tents and some bigger and fancier constructions with and without an attached toilet. Simple but clean and cozy. Special thanks to Ly from the staff who was extremely helpful and professional. You will need a scooter to move around as the place is located 15-20 min walk from the main route (or 2 min scooter ride). Scooter will help you explore the island and get to the beach (the one next to the guesthouse is dirty and full of rabish). You can rent a scooter for 120-150k dong (season dependent price) at the reception desk. Go north to see the starfish beach and have a beer at Mama Sunset Bar to see the sunset. Check local sea food noodle soup bún quậy. Defenietely go for a cable car ride and spend at least 2-3h at the Aquapark and a beach at the final station (it's a good idea to bring some food and water if you are on a budget). Go to a local store and buy a cheap hammock and straps for 50-70k dong (comes in handy for a nap or at the beach). Take a scooter and explore little fisherman's villages on the coast (locate them on Google satelite view). Defenietely skip the Night Market. Waste of time in a noisy crowd of tourists and triple the prices you can get...
Read moreMe and a friend were backpacking around Vietnam and decided to try this homestay out.
The huts that we rented were extremely cosy and we were very comfortable for the 4 nights we stayed. Drinking water and nice showers are available at any time. They also offer breakfast for a reasonable price, which is useful given that most breakfast places are a short bike drive away.
Very quiet and away from traffic with a beautiful garden and lovely people working here.
The host Son was amazing in every way, sending us useful information about the local area and the best places to visit.
We rented bikes from here which worked beautifully, which can’t be said for every place I’ve stayed in Vietnam!
I would suggest this homestay to every backpacker who wants to experience Phu Quoc away from the tourist-trap areas, I would love to...
