Estancia 25 de Mayo — Local services in El Calafate

This was my first visit to an Estancia, and it was very enjoyable. The service was superb overall and my waitress, Gisela, was outstanding! She greeted me warmly outside in the parking lot upon my arrival and described the offerings for the evening meal, and seated me at the best table. She was very attentive throughout the evening. The salad bar was top notch, as were the roasted veggies served with the meats at the table side service. The beef and lamb were a little dry to my liking, but the chicken and sausage were flavorful. The Folklorico Show was fun! It ends with a lot of audience participation which I think is wonderful. You get to break the ice with people you've spent time dining near, but not interacting. This is definitely kind of a show for tourists, but a good one. They show a bit of farm activities like sheep shearing, and show/tell stories how people on estancias lived in the past, which is interesting to hear. Just know that this itself is not an active farm anymore, anything that is here is here for tourists. However, the highlight for me was definitely all the different food you get to try. The traditional bread of the gauchos, wine, marinated lamb, a full asado with different parts of meat traditionally grilled over an open fire, sausages, and more. And of everything, there is plenty. Our guide around the farm was fabulous - in presentation, delivery and style. The sheep shearing was interesting. The appetizers outdoors were nice. The meal wasn’t anything to write home about. The entertainment was good for the ambiance. All of the staff were super sweet. If you have limited Spanish - have your phone translator available for meal time.
