I would like to take a moment to recognise the exceptional service I received from Chris at Foodland Pasadena.
I visited the seafood section at approximately 7:50 PM on August 26, 2025, to purchase some salmon. By that time, most of the fish had already been packed away in the freezer, and Chris was busy cleaning the counter. When I asked if salmon was still available, he responded with a warm smile and said, “Yes, we do have – how much would you like?”
I requested 1.5kg of salmon and asked whether it was skin-on or off. Chris explained it was skin-on but immediately offered—without hesitation—to skin it off for me, cheerfully adding that it was no trouble at all. When I asked why the display was already packed down, he kindly explained that the department closes at 8 PM, so they begin cleaning and packing a little earlier to ensure everything is finished on time.
Despite being at the end of his shift and in the middle of closing duties, Chris served me with patience, positivity, and genuine customer care. When I thanked him, he smiled again and said, “Happy to do anything for the customer.” That kind of attitude is rare these days and truly stood out to me.
I want to sincerely thank Chris for going above and beyond—his professionalism, friendliness, and willingness to help left a very positive impression. Experiences like this make a huge difference and are no doubt a key part of Pasadena Foodland’s success. Chris is certainly an asset to your team, Mr. Nick.
👏 Thank you again, Chris. I look forward to seeing you on my next...
Read moreI recently visited Pasadena Green for a quick lunch with my two younger children. I have shopped there in the past although not often as we live in McLaren Vale. Unfortunately, we were not impressed by the service we received. First, we visited the Bakery, where the staff didn't seem particularly happy and were inattentive; we were not asked if we wished to eat in or take away. Perhaps they didn't want kids leaving any crumbs... We then visited 'The Flower Bar' to purchase two bunches of flowers, where the two staff completely ignored us. I could see they were busy (not with customers) but a simple smile, or 'won't be a moment' or any acknowledgement of my presence would have been appropriate and appreciated. However, we were completely ignored for a good couple of minutes. Even my children (8 and 6 years) were beginning to look around awkwardly, as we all wondered if we were meant to take the flowers elsewhere to pay! I was just about to put the flowers back and walk out when we were eventually served by a sour faced lady who apparently had better things to do than sell flowers. I can honestly say I have never experienced such obnoxious salespeople anywhere and would suggest they remember they are there to sell flowers to customers. There are many positive reviews for the shopping centre and it is disappointing I am not able to leave one; I am a strong supporter of small business and would much rather leave a...
Read moreReview of Pasadena Shopping Centre – Egg Supply & Pricing Issues
While Pasadena Shopping Centre prides itself on offering a boutique experience – complete with polished interiors and pleasant music – the practicalities seem to fall short, especially when it comes to basic grocery items like eggs.
For several weeks now, the centre's supermarket has struggled to keep a consistent stock of eggs. Staff claim there’s an “egg shortage,” yet the local service station just down the road not only has steady supply but offers them at cheaper prices. This makes the explanation hard to believe.
What’s more concerning is that for an area serving not just Pasadena but surrounding suburbs, the store allocates only a small section – three modest shelves – to eggs. This seems like poor planning or an unwillingness to meet local demand, particularly when other nearby retailers are unaffected.
Add to that the noticeable price hike across regular grocery items, and one starts to wonder whether you’re paying more simply for the ambience. While the store experience might be curated, the fundamentals of grocery retail – availability, affordability, and reliability – are being overlooked.
Pasadena might look nice, but unless management starts prioritising essential stock levels and value for money, it risks being all style and...
