*edited to inform that after providing all records of doctors visits and results from samples confirming salmonella, Fiona at Munch Box provided a comprehensive email outlining what they have done as a business and are working closely with health department. perhaps an external supplier product issue? Not sure I'll be back for bahn mi anytime soon, but none the less they have accepted accountability and apologised. That's all I guess anyone would ask for *

Bought 3 bahn mi rolls on Saturday 16th march; 1 roast pork and 2 crispy chicken. Sunday night I came down with a fever and became best mates with my toilet. It's now Thursday and I've just been asked to provide a sample for testing.....I've just read the comments on here in the last few days. Confirmed with the other 2 people i ordered for and they have been unwell with the same symptoms. Clearly salmonella on premises. I've never experienced anything like this in my life. Will be reporting to health department given the amount of complaints. Always been an avid Munch Box consumer, but this has burnt me. I've missed work , am out of pocket $60 from doctors visits and haven't been able to look after...

Having been told this was an amazing place for a Banh Mi, I went out of my way to track it down.

Got there just before lunch and there was a line up of customers (always a good sign). Everyone was processed quickly (+1 on the good signs) with minimal wait periods for orders being presented. That's great service!!

I asked the young lad behind the counter if the Banh Mi's were any good and everyone working there said they were the best in Australia (that's a big call, but another +1 for good signs with Staff who take pride in their work! Wow!!)

The lady who assembled my Banh Mi asked me where else I'd tried Banh Mi's from. I told her mostly from Canberra, but previously I'd had 2 in Perth and both were very under whelming. (Canberra's Banh Mi's are great by the way)

Anyway, the Banh Mi presented looked amazing, and tasted even better. Perfect combo of coriander, chili, fresh salads and crispy pork. An absolute joyous lunch!

If your after a top notch Banh Mi made with pride, Munch Box in Balcatta won't disappoint.

There is only a high bench near the window that seats up to four people. There is also outdoor seating available. It can get extremely hot sitting in the morning sun. It is preferable to order takeout instead.⁣ ⁣ This is my first experience with Banh Mi. People are raving about their crispy roast pork, according to Google reviews. The staff suggests we try the grilled minced pork as well. I think the crispy roast pork tastes better and is more appealing. The skin is crisp and crackling. It would be ideal if the protein portion could be more generous. The grilled minced pork, on the other hand, is a no-go in my opinion. It tasted like artifical grilled pork or bak kwa.⁣ ⁣ It's worth a shot if you're nearby. It's not worth driving out of your way...
