DO GO IF YOU HAVE A DISABILITY AND PLEASE DON’T ORDER BLADES. I have disabilities I went here 3 or 4 time find solutions as I love skating but end up in the bathrooms. I have sensory issues I find the music here really overwhelming. I use loops or AirPods to deal with this and it helps. I take lessons here (synchro and learn to skate) and use my loops, never had a problem. When I tried public session it became a problem. The staff kept saying it wasn’t allowed, okay. I tried reasoning to them multiple times about a solution, wearing a headband, over ear headphones etc. Many other sports/activities I do we find a solution to make this work. As the risk is that the loops/ear plug falls out and in this case it creates a hazard on the ice. Also, according to staff said “you are unaware of your sorounding”. I can hear everything perfectly with my loops just decreasing db without the blurring the background one bit. You know what I mean if you tried and I know they won’t fall out but do thing for safety purposes like the headband. They didn’t reason at all and was rude about it. I end up having a meltdown within the first 10 minutes as the staff refused to care. Didn’t give a refund as I wasn’t even went on the ice for more than 10 min max each vist as I just cried in the bathrooms as my mum struggled. As a result they said I’ll need to go to a disability session. I took a look and it only during school hours and practically only promoted wheelchairs and majorly disabled people. Ask the staff about it bc I attended full time school as I’m sure most disabled people do also and ik that there is others for sure in the same or similar situation. The staff was super rude about it saying I faking being disabled or why can you talk, move around, attend lessons, actual disabled people don’t attend full time school etc. (I’m a level 2 autistic with other things, everyone developeds differently!) I can show you my diagnosis if they want me too. Speak to a different staff I was allowed but wasn’t when I went onto the ice. Another said I’m too advanced so suggested figure skating session never tried them but worth a shot but I wasn’t given a guide on to access it. Overall it results in a big problem for such a little thing. They told me to get more lessons or private. 1 I have FND sometimes I can be in paralysis condition so multiple scheduled lessons a week doesn’t work as I had to talk a break from learn to skate in term 2 bc of it 2 is enough. Private lessons $50-70/h not everyone has the money for that, it is pricey. I’m just trying to train like everyone else. WHY CAN’T I PAY THE SAME?
Another problem I had is that I got new skates I wanted the lightest blades went with MK professional lite blades in 10’. They were sold out in these and JW correction ace blades, 2nd option. So I ordered it no problem followed up few weeks after then regularly nothing. Said it will take max 4 weeks it took 6 MONTHS! Ridiculous! When I received the blades the box was faded, old and worn out. Blades wasn’t sharpened but it had scratches all over it very obvious and 90% sure used for a display, noticeable sign of wear and tear. There was 4 stuff members sorounding us and they were obviously nervous about something, couldn’t even take a joke. The staff said it was $500 when i ordered in early October 2024 and when paid for it in late April they charged $550. Confronting the staff about this no discount/original price told they created a slight fight. Box said ‘angry customer’ as my dad did call about it on the phone very upset about this. It is very rude considering what they did. I just settled with this bc I was so over it.
As I know for sure I’m not the only one in this situation PLEASE ADD MORE DISABILITY SESSION AFTER SCHOOL. PLEASE FIX YOU CONDITIONS SO THE VENUE OVERALL MORE ACCESSIBLE TO NON AND DISABLED SKATER. Add a specialised program or sensory public AND figure skating session as those are cheaper as I dig into isq cheaper. We don’t deserve to pay more to practice like everyone else and this is supposed to be a disability...

This particular place is ideally located on the left-hand side of Sandgate Rd, just past the main Roghan Rd intersection, when heading towards Deagon.
Making prior bookings in advance is the best way to ensure everything goes smoothly as it is a popular place, particularly during the holiday period.
I found the pricing, which includes a pair of skates ⛸️ to be reasonably.
A very family-friendly place to enjoy some quality time on an Olympic sized ice rink.
For beginners, there are these penguins that you can hold onto to get you around on the ice until you feel comfortable.
I found the staff to be friendly & willing to help with ensuring everything & everyone was safe & looked after when skating.
There are First Aid facilities inside the premises near the ice rink itself.
There is a canteen area that caters to everyone's needs with adequate seating. The canteen is located on the left-hand side before the entrance to the ice rink.

Update (2/1/2024): I really enjoyed my time at Boondall Iceworld but the recent price hikes are far too much so I doubt I will be going from 2024 onwards. It's a terrible shame but I think the recent price increases will be the undoing of Brisbane's only ice rinks. $30 per person for a 2 hour session is way too much.
Update (17/1/2024): So, I had my new skates sharpened at Boondall Iceworld and I suspected that the quality of the service was pretty poor, which was very disappointing considering the cost of my hockey boots. After skating on them I literally couldn't parallel stop on them (which I did with ease before). I took them to Pro Edge Ice Sports and I actually stayed and talked to Zane whilst he effectively repaired the edges of my blades. He found that (a) the blades were incredibly rough and pitted and (b) they were both unlevel on both skates (considering the RoH). What Zane did to rectify the situation was incredible. I have since skated on them since Zane corrected the issue and they are probably the best sharpen I've ever had in 38 years of skating. The message here is to be aware that if you get your hockey boots sharpened at Boondall you may (currently) be disappointed. I would hope that Iceworld address this issue, if they read this comment. Maybe get a better...
