Read moreRocklea Markets are iconic fresh fruit and veg wholesalers. Just across the road is Saturday (mostly fresh fruit and veg) and Sunday morning markets... with Sunday being the big one. Selling everything from bric a brac, new and used tools, plants, books, sunglasses, birds and accessories, fudges of all kinds , toys, knives...you name it, they will probably have it for sale here on Sundays. There is a twosome playing pop on acoustic guitar, hot foods that are expensive, but if you skipped breakfast and want to take a break from walking up and down the 20 or so aisles then grab a bite and a coffee with plenty of tables (unless you sleep in and are looking for one between say 10 and 11, otherwise just keep watching for when a table is vacated and Bob's your uncle). There really is so much to take in, and while it is not the biggest, or dare I say best markets in Brisbane south, there are bargains galore, and most of the vendors are friendly and helpful. Start at one end and every aisle is numbered so you can go back to find that certain something you changed your mind about. Parking is a breeze, and I always go past the main entrance on Sherwood Road heading towards Sherwood and at the next set of lights turn left, and after paying your $2 entrance fee go up top and there are hundreds of parks available. Great for people from young to old, just make sure you have plenty to spend because there is a lot to...
Read moreThis market deserves the rating as I've been hunting for a decent market around Gold Coast, Surfers and Brisbane for over a year now and this market hands down is the best one for many reasons.
PROS *The parking is great!! *The variety of food and great prices are worthy to note! *The set up is fantastic, very practical and not confusing. *Mobile ATM is set up to the left of the market away from the stalls. *Food court area with many tables and chairs set up in the middle. *Amenities are close by. Satisfyingly easy to get in and get out.
CONS I'd suggest bringing your own water as the price of water is through the roof in certain stalls. Pay attention to what you're buying as some fruits, vegetables, eggs etc are near expiry, it pays to be careful. *$4 Entry, steep and unnecessary. I remember the entry to park being $1. The market is flourishing! Yet they increased this to $4? I do not know why, only explanation is greed.
Overall, perfect market that shadows all others! Do not waste your time thinking you can find better because you won't, I know because...
