Had a 50th B'day at Black Mountain peninsula recently, it was a great evening, lucky to get a nice spot on a lovely day. A great picnicking and playground area that's close to Canberra CBD. Easy pushbike distance to ANU, National Museum, Botanic Gardens, National Zoo and Aquarium. Beautiful scenery across the lake. Beautiful grand old eucalypt trees, heaps of bird-life, was greeted by a family of black swans who came looking for food but they were disappointed. Free electric BBQ's very handy when they're working, several shelters/covered area's also very convenient apart from the bird-poo everywhere- again, don't feed the swans.
