This location is incredible, but the staff do not value their customers or have any sense of service. I rarely post reviews but after two separate interactions with two separate staff members in a single weekend, I am incredibly disappointed and am going elsewhere to finish my landscaping purchases.
In the first instance I purchased a set of pots that were on sale for 50% off and noted one had obviously been dropped at some point on the stocking shelf and had a crack running a fourth of the way down the pot. It was the last one so I asked if they could do any further discount if I took it given I was buying all the others in the set. The manager who was called over said that would mean they would lose money on the pot for what they paid for it so it had to be full price regardless of the damage it had and there was nothing they could do. ‘Losing money’ on a damaged item that they rather throw in the rubbish than sell to a customer buying several hundred dollars in goods. There wasn’t even a good faith offer of a few dollars off the price to account for the damage, and given every pot in the store was 30-50% off I’d worry for this business if they literally have that slim a mark up on their goods.
Less than 24 hours later I was back with my husband buying another set of pots, not wanting to write off the whole store for the actions of one person. Given the volume we had to do two separate trips to the back and two separate transactions. On the second transaction we were asked if we wanted to join the loyalty club for a 5% discount on our next transaction. This was literally after spending over 700 dollars in the past 24 hours...one transaction literally 10 minutes earlier... and never being offered the loyalty club or any discount. When my husband pointed this out and asked if he could at least get the discount to account for what he had just loaded into the car sitting in their view, the staff member responded that they were helpless and couldn’t do anything retrospectively.
Recommend coming here for a bite to eat, but there are plenty of private businesses and major chains nearby that offer the same products and make it clear they value the customers...
Read moreFabulous nursery. Great range of plants, from potted colour to semi-mature trees. Lovely array of pots to choose from and amazing display of water features and other garden "additions" (such as art, seating and statuary). Go inside and they have gardening tools and seasonal displays of home decor items. Also a lovely range of soaps, candles and the like. When you first enter you traverse through some tempting treats and preserves. . . There really is something for everyone at Rodney's. Perhaps the biggest draw card though, is the amazing staff. The staff are friendly and approachable and have a wealth of knowledge about the plants. If you have a question about where to plant something or what care it might need, ask the staff and they will help you...
Read moreFor the second time, I have made a phone order to Rodney's Plants Plus to organise a gift for my best friend in Canberra (I am interstate). On both occasions, have been treated with warmth, enthusiasm, and knowledge for the products and possibilities in gifting. Lou (on the phone) provided me with options, gave thoughtful opinions, and expert customer service. My BFF now has a gorgeous potted olive tree in an Italian terracotta pot to commemorate her Nonno who lived and died in Tasmania. Thanks Rodney's! The only thing I'd wish for is that Rodney's wouldn't outsource their delivery option so that it was a bit more affordable. Otherwise, a perfect and...
