Roughly 45 mins (and 170m descent) walk from Shepherds Lookout carpark. And yet it feels like you are deep in the wilderness. Trail is clear and well kept but steep in a few places. Sturdy shoes are recommended.

It is at the end of the Shepherd Lookout Walk and quite an enjoyable walk. It is a tranquil place and only the sound of water flowing can be heard... Wild animals encounter is likely too.

Amazing place to visit, the wildlife and river were amazing. Trail was rough, so good footwear is required. A certain level of fitness as it is in a steep valley.

I have done the walk from Shepard's Lookout to Urialla Picnic area and back two times. The first time I remembered the hike fondly but after doing it a second time, not so much. Very steep walk down steps from the lookout to the bridge along the fence line of the waste treatment centre, not a fun thing to have to walk back up at the end of a hike.

Sandy in many parts that is not ideal to walk on in joggers. Beware of being swooped by magpies coming up from the picnic area.

Sure the Shepard's Lookout and river crossing views are nice but apart from that the rest of the hike is just meh. Worth doing at least once for those views but I won't be doing this hike again...

One of my favourite walking tracks around Canberra. There's two entrances, one from the Shepherd's Lookout car park and the other one is on Urriara East which is the easier one although the former has the best view of the...
