I have done the walk from Shepard's Lookout to Urialla Picnic area and back two times. The first time I remembered the hike fondly but after doing it a second time, not so much. Very steep walk down steps from the lookout to the bridge along the fence line of the waste treatment centre, not a fun thing to have to walk back up at the end of a hike.
Sandy in many parts that is not ideal to walk on in joggers. Beware of being swooped by magpies coming up from the picnic area.
Sure the Shepard's Lookout and river crossing views are nice but apart from that the rest of the hike is just meh. Worth doing at least once for those views but I won't be doing this hike again...
