unfortunately the only good thing we have to say about holding our reception at the homestead is the venue itself. it was breathtakingly beautiful and was definitely the vibe we were after. However there are a number of issues we had throughout the night, and a large sum of money that was quite literally thrown in the bin.
Ann was very abrupt and not accommodating to my dad upon arrival, but throughout the night she drastically changed and began being respectful.
The drinks supplied were not the ones we had specifically asked for. We had sent an email months ago with a list, as requested by Gerry and Ann. We went over it again at the meeting a week ago, and were told they would have all the drinks, including mixers we had listed. As the bride I had to drink alcohol that I don’t normally drink or like as none of the extra drinks or mixers on our list were supplied. Myself and the groom, followed by my dad approached Ann regarding this issue and she said they would go and get the mixers we wanted. They also ran out of vodka early in the night which is something that we had specifically asked for and said we needed quite a bit of.
They cut up way too much of our cake and threw out the pieces cut up that weren’t eaten. We asked in the meeting a week ago to save some of the top tier as the cake had 2 different flavours, and we wanted to have some of the top flavour. We got home and after taking the cake out of the box, we only had the bottom tier.
We asked for the grazing platter to be bought out at 630, but the food didn’t start getting brought out until 645. Guests were denied food until everything was placed out. They took away the grazing platter food between 8-830 and threw out all the food that wasn’t eaten. The range of food was not what we asked for, and most of the food served was not liked by many people. A lot of it was sweets, we had asked for mostly savoury, inclusive of meats and cheeses and lots of sausage rolls. Only a small number of sausage rolls were served and the sandwiches provided were tuna and chicken. There was also a large number of scones that were barely touched.
If you’re after a venue just for the ambience and location it’s perfect. However the service, communication and the grazing platter catering option definitely lacked in...
Read moreWe recently celebrated our day at the Homestead and experienced a mixed outcome. The actual venue is BEAUTIFUL and caters amazingly to anyone wanting a rustic styled wedding. All of our guests commented on the beauty. The food was also incredible and loved by all. Prior to our wedding the communication we received from the Homestead was good, clear and consistent and we were very confident. However, on the day we were disappointed. No one was there to let us in upon our arrival, when we were setting up and had questions we were unable to find any staff on site to assist besides the chef. We first saw staff 20 minutes before our wedding commenced and by then things were too late to be asked. We were not informed that the heating in the shed wasn’t working and when our guests complained of the cold and we raised this, no further action was done, this resulted in some people departing early to due to cold. When we needed assistance with our cake cutting, again no staff in site. The actual bar staff and wait staff who served out dinner and drinks were terrific and friendly however and made quite the impression. We still loved our wedding and would return here for the venue, food and wait staff, but we are somewhat disappointed at the poor communication on the day and the inability to problem solve things such as the...
Read moreThis is a little piece of enchantment in a busy world. The homestead has lovely original features and it's history is captured in photoed and events which the amateur historian will enjoy. There is plenty of windows that overlook different parts of the garden which range between cottage and native including kangaroos who comfortably roam the more open spaces. The tree lined pathway takes you into the main building and you really feel you have retreated into a peaceful and graceful era. I have been there in both summer and winter and enjoyed dining in and out. The most recent meal was delicious and the chef turned his hand to a range of foods with ease. An aromatic casserole was accompanied by perfectly cooked veg with a slight crunch. A Greek salad was enjoyably on more than one helping. The owners are friendly and enthusiastic and I imagine any event held at the homestead and grounds would be memorable for all the...
