My nephew and I both loved the Freycinet Experience Walk in December 2023. The architecturally designed lodges were comfortable, generously spacious and cosy with a fireplace, shower room, separate room for an indulgent bath and the most discrete and effective environmentally-friendly toilets I have ever come across. With 8 guests I felt we were extremely well cared for by our 2 guides â Ella and Emma plus our 2 lodge hosts â Filippo and Karl. It was my nephewâs first walking tour holiday plus he has severe dietary restrictions. We could not be happier with the care that the team took to ensure that my nephew felt safe and supported. I have experienced walking tour holidays in various countries and this was my third in Australia. It set the benchmark for how exceptionally well organised an Australian walking tour holiday can be. I have my 2024 Australian walking tour holiday booked with the same company and I know it will be glorious. The Freycinet Experience Walk is suitable for all ages and could be a wonderfully bonding getaway for a group. I recommend it to anyone who wants to switch off immersed in nature with the comfort of beautifully prepared meals accompanied by Tasmaniaâs sensational beers and wines served from the heart by a team committed to your relaxation...
Read moreSouth Coast Track - 9 day challenge at the very base of Tasmania. From day one crammed into a light aircraft with our packs flying of the East Arthur Ranges to Melaleuca airstrip in the middle of nowhere to a 17 hour day traversing the Iron Bound Range (we were slow). A warm 29 degrees for the first day. Fortunately it was dry for most of our days (what a blessing) with only one morning of rain, hail, thunder and lightning. Even so there were still mud bog holes to get through and river crossings that were thankfully ankle to knee deep only and the wet side of the Iron Bound and South Cape Ranges to navigate. Swimming in the Tasman Sea was amazing. Views were astounding along the entire walk from button grass plains to barren rock faces and forests. Our guides were fabulous, they managed the personalities in the group, were empathetic, supportive, insightful and were able to judge and accommodate the abilities of all in the group. Long days of walking & short nights of sleeping. Be prepared to extend yourself and expect a few tears on the way (very cathartic) and above all respect and relish this...
Read moreThe walk was truly wonderful, and I am glad I did it. My advice to others is to take the preparation advice given to heart and don't skimp on the advice, especially when you are in your late 60's like me. It is a difficult hike and you need to be prepared, especially as you have to carry 20kg on your back. My major gripe with the support team was they did not provide the right size pack for me. This was very problematic and took a lot of the enjoyment out of the hike. It appears they based the size on my overall height, when what is required is to measure the individuals torso. You can look this procedure up online. The only other (small) gripe was we barely had enough gas for the hiking stove that was provided. These two things were important for an enjoyable hike and hence why I gave a rating of 3 stars. The quality of the gear though was excellent, as was the information provided by the company. I highly recommend the...
