I visited Marangaroo golf course to buy a new putter and was met by Rob Farley, the club pro.
Not only was I given amazing service and unbiased advice from Rob, I was given whatever putter I wanted and unlimited pressure free time to try them out on the putting green.
Rob come out to see how I was going, gave me a few pointers and an assessment of my putting stroke. Despite me having preconceived ideas of what I was going to buy and try out, unsolicited, Rob grabbed a completely different putter he believed was more suited more to my stroke and gave it to me to try out.
Needless to say he was completely correct and I walked away with a putter that was actually suited to my game, rather than a guess as to what would suit.
It's the first time I have walked away from purchasing golf gear confident in knowing I have bought the right club, received unbiased advice and with no pressure to buy unless I was comfortable in my decision. He provided his own advice, the reasons why and explained how it fits my game. Not once did he push me to a certain club or pressure me in anyway.
On purchase Rob also switched out the grip right then and there for one which was comfortable for me.
I highly recommend a visit to see Rob, great bloke who is super knowledgeable and clearly knows what he is talking about.
Do yourself a favour and speak to Rob before you visit the usual golf stores, I can guarantee you will walk away confident in your purchase and not be selling it on gumtree...
Read moreI have to give you guys a bit of credit first, your golf course is in very good condition for a municipal golf course. The greens were very nice yesterday. Myself and a friend booked a two ball and although you didn’t mention it at all I assumed we’d be paired up with another couple as it was so busy, which is fine we expected it. Unfortunately it’s common practise now at public courses but the two lads we were paired with were half our age. They had one set of clubs that they shared. Neither of them wore golf shoes and one of the lads was in jeans and a tee shirt. The one in jeans said it was his first time on a golf course and it was obvious. I think he got one ball of the tee in the entire round. They were on their phones the whole way round and it took. 2 hours 40 mins to complete the 9 holes. There lack of etiquette and golf knowledge meant they were walking all over my putting line and putting out on every green whether it was their turn or not. The lads were polite enough and realised they were slowing us down. I understand you have to make money but you really need to marshal the course. For two kids to be sharing one set of clubs is unacceptable at any golf course public or not. Be more vigilant and picky about things like etiquette and dress standards. You don’t have to be private to keep in top of...
Read moreI have taken up playing golf at the ripe young age of 3 score + 11.5. I have used the driving range several times as well as played several rounds of 9 holes. The range and the first 9 are great. Chipping and putting practising facilities are good too. As mentioned I can't rate the second 9 because I haven't played them but would imagine that would be a nice experience too. I would like to single out all the staff, including the pleasant ladies at the canteen. The high standard of customer service from all staff i have encountered, whether on the phone or f2f is refreshing these days post Covid. I have had some lessons from the patient and likeable Troy Crimmins. What a difference this has made to my game! Instead of unintentionally smacking a few hapless roos almost out of bounds, I'm mostly hitting straight and true. I note that one reviewer has written that there are marks on the fairway and greens that need repair. However, the course is under huge pressure from so many players. Perhaps players could be gently asked in a blackboard notice to help a bit with this as well as raking the practice...
