Go here if you want to buy EXPIRED PRODUCTS and experience HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE, like the kind comparable to prison. I did some shopping here and went back the next day with 2 products to either replace or refund. One of the products had expired 4 months before the date I bought and the other was too close to expiry (1 month). I told the owner about this calmly, never made any accusations (i know mixups can happen), but he got super defensive and started telling me he has the legal right to sell it till the last day. Said he will process the refund of the first product but not the second. I said I'd be happy with a replacement as well. Then he said go have a look lol. So I went and all other products were the same. Then he changed his mind and said he will refund both, but that it's my privilege not my right lol. The fact that he had become so defensive even though I didn't accuse him of doing any of this intentionally, tells me that they are actually stocking expired products intentionally because not a lot of people check the dates on every product. When he got aggressive I said I'll be posting this online and started taking photos. He didn't let me take a picture of the expired product but you can see him processing the refund of the same product. The second photo is of the chutney which expires in Jan 2019 and I bought it on 28th Dec 2018. Anyway, I've always done my Indian grocery shopping at Surbhi which is just further up on Burwood rd. This time I thought I'd try something different. But horrible experience, going to be sticking with Surbhi, much better customer service. (Edit) wow after posting the review I see there a a whole bunch of other people saying the same thing, that they sell expired products. Makes sense now why he got all worked up. Many of these reviews are months old and they don't seem to have done anything about it. Putting people's health at risk. I do hope they go out of...
Read moreShoppers India is filled with authentic Indian stuffs. From all varieties of rice, grains to all types of ready to eat items such as parotta and also sweets. I was surprised to even get a special type of rice called as jeeraga samba. This rice is used for making authentic biriyani - ambur type biriyani in Tamilnadu. You can get hot samosas most of the times. All pooja items are available from camphor to ganga water. The staffs are kind and friendly. Whenever my son came with me he always received a chocolate or biscuit pack for free. They do have points return as other supermarket chains in Australia. I made my last shopping from the accumulated points. The only down side is the location. It is in between Glenferrie and Auburn stations and without a car it is often difficult to make big purchases. The related advantage is that the place is spacious and allows relaxed shopping. Look for offers during Diwali (just before Diwali) where you can get grains...
Read moreI have been to this store before but never had any weird experiences but today the retail assistant charged me 3-4times more than the normal retail prices and when I asked her she it’s the same for all the brands and I can scan and show you. I said it’s okay fine and was leaving but came back and returned. When asked for refund on card, said it’s not possible. Refund was through cash only, I was fine with it but then she was not ready to give me the exact money, 500g cumin seeds were charged $14.99 and she was like I have less coins just short of these many cents. Usually, i wouldn’t mind but as she tried to charge her personal items on me which were kept on the counter around the items I was purchasing(I might be wrong but didn’t get a good feeling) and finally gave me exact refund after insisting.
