St Marys Fish & Chips — Local services in Sydney

We are regulars at Woolies nearby. But this is our first time at this store. I ordered a grilled fish,chips and salad. A bottle of water came along. When placing the order I was asked which salad and I looked at the options and said Greek salad. When my order arrived garden salad was in. The lady at the counter faired to tell me Greek salad costs 0.50 cents more or probably had a hard time understanding her English accent and missed her telling me. I speak simple plain English but not sure if English was not her first language.

My partner ordered a medium chicken pasta salad from which he had few spoons only. He disliked it too. The fish was okay to eat but had to take the skin off. The chips and salad was not good. I really felt bad since didn't enjoy the meal at all and wasted money too.

I was never a fish and chips lover but tried few places which served awesome fish and chips and enjoyed it to the core.

Had a bad experience with Toros Kebab too and 2nd bad experience in St Mary's shopping village.

Better to eat frozen or packaged food then...

The absolute worst place to get fish. First of all, I believe the display window for the fish is completely unhygienic, While they use ice, it doesn’t stop bacteria growth, especially in this hot weather. The fish is exposed to air and warm temperatures, making it a breeding ground for contamination, but regardless of that, many people still swore this place was amazing, decided to try once, and never will again.

When I got my fish, it smelled off—rotten and completely disgusting. To make matters worse, I found a long strand of hair in my food. This was beyond unacceptable and made me question their cleanliness and food handling practices.

The staff, particularly the Asian ladies, were shockingly rude. I spoke to them politely about my concerns, but instead of resolving the issue, they yelled at me. Their behaviour was unprofessional and rude.

Ordered a meal tonight, it was delivered but not to me 😠. Never had this happen before. Not the shops fault, couriers need to double check addresses on delivery. Hope whoever got my order enjoyed it ! Grilled cheese on toast for me tonight 😒

UPDATE my menulog order was delivered, not to my door, not to my neighbours doors (I live in an apartment block), not even in the stairwell. I found it 9am the next morning on outdoor steps leading to the stairwell. To the courier who "delivered" it.. if you're too lazy to walk up 2 flights of steps to my door maybe you're in the wrong job ! Least you could've done was phone me to tell me where to find my order.
