St Marys Band Club — Restaurant in Sydney

Staff are unwelcoming, rude, petty. We made reservations in the restaurant for Sat 18 March, 2023. Reception staff were very unhelpful. Not greeted at reception, was motioned to hand her my I.D. Instead of contacting the restaurant staff to verify my event they attempted to send me down the road to the diggers club, even though I had a party planner already setting up on-site. I located the location of our dinner after advocating to check for myself and came back to let the receptionists know so they weren’t turning away any of my guests and was met with passive aggressive and defensive behaviour. Was told the restaurant was an entity of its own so in rebuttal I clarified ‘so what you’re telling me is you don’t communicate.’ She gave me a shrug like a problem teenager although she was clearly my grandma’s age. She then went on an unrelated spiel to make sure my guests were documented like we were at the Mexican border. A few minutes later, I’m approached by the Restaurant/ Functions manager who was concerned about the numbers arriving and not about whether they would even make it to the actual reserved tables which was my only concern. Not a good experience. Fix your internal communications so this doesn’t occur again and in 2023 everyone knows adults should have ID on licensed venues, they didn’t come to fruition overnight some of your venues were established over decades ago. It is not your job to remind people, especially people of colour about documentation it’s inherently racist, you can check at the door which is what your compliance empowers you to do and that’s where your...

The menu never changes to the point of when you decide to order something you go up to the counter, only to be rudely and abruptly shown to a sign that says it’s no longer available. The abrupt female at the counter doesn’t even have the courtesy to speak to you when she dumped the sign in your face, The menus are laminated and falling apart. The blackboard hasn’t been cleaned properly in months and it’s hard to read. There is gaps through the menu that things have just been scrubbed out on the blackboard.

It’s very rare that I have ever had a decent meal here. The only reason I go is because my father is 94 and feels safe.

Quite clearly, the chef needs to change, and the person at the front counter. People with courtesy and imagination. The fact that whenever I go in, there is hardly anyone eating food is a testament to itself..

It’s come to a point now that when my father asked other family members to go and make an excuse that they have to be somewhere else.

Yet I see in the reviews regarding the rudeness of the female at the front counter. We will be dealing with it, but nothing is ever done. She still there, and she runs it like she owns the place.. which is another reason. The place is probably quiet, sometimes the way she has spoken to my father. If I was a female, I would slap her across the face.

It’s a shame because there is a beautiful team in this club and the outlay of the property is calm and relaxing.

We had our wedding reception at the St Marys Band Club on Thursday, 17 July, and I cannot recommend this venue highly enough!

From the very beginning of our planning journey, we had the pleasure of working with Linda, the Functions Manager. She went above and beyond to help us get everything started. When Linda went on annual leave, Tracy stepped in and continued supporting us with such care and attention to detail and we couldn’t have asked for better.

We selected the Functions Package, which included the beautiful decorations and the Noble Buffet package. The food was absolutely amazing the options were plentiful, and we loved being able to customise the menu to suit our tastes. There was truly something for everyone, and our guests were full of compliments on the variety and flavour.

Tracy is absolutely amazing. Every little tweak and change I requested, she took on without hesitation. Her customer service was exceptional always welcoming us with a warm smile and double-checking every detail. She made the entire process feel effortless.

The whole experience was seamless, and the staff created an atmosphere where we could be fully present and enjoy every moment with our family and friends. It was truly a beautiful and unforgettable evening.

To Linda and Tracy thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your professionalism, kindness, and support during one of the most special moments of our lives. We are forever grateful.
