Very much enjoyed our stay at the Gletscherblick serviced apartments. The accommodation itself was excellent, with lots of space for our family, huge amounts of storage and all the facilities we needed. Combined with access to the Edelweiss Gurgl hotel facilities it meant the logistics were perfect. Having the ski hire shop located in the hotel basement, sitting right next to fabulous ski room and locker facilities - with the large dedicated lockers for the serviced apartments - really meant that the logistics of skiing with young children were incredibly easy. Coming straight out the lockers to within 30 yards of both gondolas, in addition to being so close to the ski school meeting area, is fantastic - couldn't be any easier. And for the Monday night skiing on floodlit route 6 - the site is perfect for accessing this, even with young kids who were thrilled to be able to experience this.
The hotel itself was excellent. I thought the service from staff was helpful and friendly, the quality of the food was great and the room around the bar very good. The kids club was great - our three particularly enjoyed the visit to see the calves and pregnant horses (and 3 day old foal!) - but more generally enjoyed playing in the supervised room, drawing, dancing, and of course the magician on Friday. The pool area was great too - never too busy, and swimming outside at night and watching the late skiers coming down the mountain was very enjoyable.
If I had to point out some areas for improvement (and I'm really being very picky here just to give some hopefully constructive feedback), then I would say:
the changing facilities at the pool area are quite small and restrictive for those coming from the apartments (i.e. needing to get properly changed), there are only a couple of small showers in the pool area for washing kids' hair as you get out (as you don't want to head back across the road with wet kids' hair to wash in apartment), and there was a few occasions were the pool area reception wasn't staffed for robes / towels as staff were busy with treatments (delaying access etc). while the food quality was very good, and I appreciated there being three main course and two soup options, for a fussy eater like me (sorry!) it might have been good to have a couple of choices for the starter and dessert? Or perhaps a more flexible payment arrangement where there's a smaller charge for those only eating three courses rather than five?
That's really my only small points on potential improvements, and neither comes close to changing my view of this being a 5/5 vacation. I genuinely thought the accommodation and facilities were excellent and hugely contributed to us having a great holiday. I will be in touch very soon about provisionally booking for next year!

Read moreWow, not sure how else to start off this review. My wife booked the Gletscherblick apartment (number 11) for us last minute to go away with some friends so I had no idea what to expect. We normally stay in hotels is Obers as you can see from my previous reviews (ie Gamper and Riml). I was totally blown away, not what I was expecting by an ‘apartment’ at all – the apartments are brand new and quite simply stunning. It was the perfect balance between tyrolean charm and ultra-modern style and comfort; we would happily move in! Lots of space for the three couples, massive L shaped sofa and large dining table. Bathrooms are beautiful and I think had underfloor heating – they were toasty warm anyway. The kitchen is very compact, has a little dishwasher which was a blessing, although we didn’t eat dinner in the apartment. ||||The apartments are right in the centre of Obergurgl next to the ski school, ours had a big balcony and stunning views straight over to the South side of the valley. In terms of location, I personally don’t think you can beat it as you are about 1 minute from the slope/Rosskarbahn and Hohe Mutt lift and we were able to use the ski locker and boot room for the Edelweiss hotel which is literally next to the lifts (and my wife and I decided was about the nicest boot room we have ever seen). It is also right next to the ski school office and nursery slope which for anyone with kids would be really convenient. The supermarket is also just nearby so we went and got fresh bread etc each morning. The final thing I remember is the beds which were extremely comfortable, I presume because this is run by the Edelweiss hotel so all of the linen, pillows, duvets etc. are theirs.||||All in all way above my expectations and we will definitely try and go back and can...
Read moreThis property is as near to perfect as I have seen in this genre. The apartments (judging on the one we have rented) are immaculately designed, built, furnished and serviced. The kitchen was furnished with all that you'd expect (no freezer or oven, but everything else, incl. a microwave) and all in top shape and quality. A small grocery store is just across the street and if you did not bring microwaveable food, there are plenty of restaurants all around. The bottom station of the chair lift to the Obergurgl slopes is just across the street, about a minutes' walk from the door. The ski depot is in the main hotel building (hotel Edelweiss und Gurgl) right next to the station (the size and the relative accessibility of the depot from the street made me a little nervous but, Gott sei dank, our skis waited for us where we had left them). We parked outside the house but I suspect that in a bussier season, you would have to use one of the underground carparks nearby. ||||There is very little to complain about. Yes, fast wifi comes as an extra, but who needs the internet at 1,900 meters above the sea and across the road from great skiing? If you expect a room with a view (the "blick" in the property' name) mention this specifically, ours did not feature one, but we did not mind - the houses are rather close to one another in Obergurgl and having a view will likely mean that someone else will have a view right into your windows.||||Overall, I rate this property very highly. Certainly not cheap, but totally...
