The only officially operated saltwater crocodile and extinct species of turtle (Batagur Balka) breeding center. It is located in the Sundarbans adjacent to Banishanta Union. Here tourists can gain a proper idea and knowledge about the Sundarbans at any time without prior permission. There is an opportunity to see Chitral deer, monkeys and crocodiles in their natural environment. There is a one and a half kilometer wooden trail to view the interior of the Sundarbans. There is a 45-foot high RCC tower to view the upper images. Dolphin display to learn about aquatic animals, Chitral deer skin, tiger skeleton, crocodile eggs, nameplates with regional, common and scientific names to identify various classes of plants, a map of the Sundarbans, 3 big crocodiles, Romeo (male), Juliet and Pilpil (female), respectively. At the moment, there are 217 crocodiles of different ages and sizes under the supervision of the responsible scientific officer. When the crocodile reaches 2 meters in length, it is released into the river. There are 2 beautiful modern ghats for tourists to get on and off.

Under the supervision of the Forest Department, the tourist center has been set up on 30 hectares of land about eight kilometers from the Mongla seaport. Read moreThe only suggestion I should give is, pay the entrance fees only to the counter and take a government sealed receipt in return. The men in uniform demanding entrance fees as soon as you get off your boat are not the right ones to pay. Also do the same when you need to go deep into the forest for the permission and an armed security which would be provided by the authority. Do not deal with anyone outside the counter. The money you are giving without a receipt is not going to the government fund, I guarantee you. And, for the foreigners - you can rent a boat from Mongla to Karamjal for a day including detour for 1500 to 3000 taka. Do not pay more than that. Take a guide if needed to deal with the boatmen.
