Uncle George's Fish Net Grill — Local services in Oistins

POOR experience tonight 13th Jan 2023. There was a price of $50BBD and up for snapper on the board, and I asked for a $50 snapper. When the waitress came to take the order she said it had been put up by the manager to $55BBD, but not updated yet on the board. I thought this was strange but then when the bill came, she attempted to charge $65BBD saying the manager had charged this.

I asked to speak to the manager because no update was given on the price increase when i asked for a set priced fish... the manager rightly said the price should be charged to the customer as it is on the board ($50BBD). The waitress STILL charged me $55BBD despite what was written in the book. This felt like a self-given tip... pity, as I would have tipped a larger amount without the strange behaviour. The sorrell was charged at $8BBD -I anticipate this was also incorrectly charged to me.

Needless to say, I don't recommend this place, having had a previous fish fry at another establishment the week before. This experience left me with a poor taste in my mouth. I was NOT at all impressed, despite looking forward to this today. Also, this is a pity as clearly the manager had good customer service, as I'd expect from a business, but this wasn't followed through by the unhappy presenting woman (e.g. her expression) with a hair in a bun on the top of her head and tattoo on her arm.

Hopefully this description can help to identify issues to resolve. I will recommend others go elsewhere, for this experience, plus the food portion just wasn't as much as I had in another location for a cheaper price. Disappointed, as I wanted...

Went to Uncle Georges with plenty of patience- expecting long lines . Got there at 7. Got close to the front of the line and a woman who worked there asked us what we wanted and cleared a space for us to sit. We watched every single person in line get served before us. After 50 min we nicely inquired- she yelled it’s coming. After 1 and half hours my husband asked again- she said we ordered lobster and that takes longer…. We finally got our food 2 hours after we ordered. However this was not the end of the story. After we ate we looked around for trash to clear our trays and didn’t see one close so walked about 20 feet away to the nearest trash bin. Mind you we had not seen the pink glasses lady in a long time -Had to find our own napkins and hot sauce but boy didn’t she come running and poked me on the shoulder and said where you going you haven’t paid! We said we were throwing our trash out and we’d be right there. She yelled “come right here with me!” In a nasty tone. Scowling and cutting her eyes to us. She pointed her finger and said “ stand right here until you pay” with a even nastier tone than before. We were horrified. 2022 revisited: 4 star Sadly our experience changed I understand they were busy Friday evening 28/10/22. We could see they were busy. Husband went to queue for food and was sent to sit - someone would come. Many people coming and going. After 40 min we asked the young lady serving (ear lateral bar piercing) if we could order please, as she was taking payment for the family next to us. She then disappeared again not to be seen until we were leaving later. We were never served after 1 hr of waiting I queued again 15min. In that time some sort of emotional meltdown was going on between staff and an argument. I have deducted 1 star due to the bad advise of sending husband back after queuing and the bad atmosphere that everyone felt. You got to stay professional. The food was fantastic. Sadly total lack of service which is disappointing. We both had the sword fish at 35BDS each. No drinks had to go next door.

2018 review: 5 star Good food and lovely service. We went Saturday night early before 7pm. It was recommended to us by a local friend. The fish was tentatively cooked (we had the barracuda and Mahi mahi). The sides were all fresh and everything was scrummy.
