First class all the way. From communication to setup to dive brief to dive to offloading and debrief, everything is done in a professional manner that is fun and safe for everyone.
I have been diving for over thirty years, and this has been one of the best experiences I have ever had with a local dive operation. From the moment you check in it is clear that this is a team that loves what they do. They work tirelessly to make sure that everyone is set up properly before leaving the dock. the focus is on maximizing a positive experience for each diver without sacrificing safety.
Once on board divers are divided into groups accord to classes, traveling partners, and experience. Each group is assigned an instructor/dive master, and the first dive is briefed. I had the same dive master for both days of diving, Instructor Dakota, who was exceptional. However, watching the rest of the crew, I believe the experience would have been outstanding no matter which crew member was leading my dives. It was clear that everyone’s priority was getting the most out of each dive in a manner that kept everyone safe.
One thing that the dive master did that I appreciated was keeping track of our air consumption and managing the dive accordingly. For example, there were three of us in my group today. Me, a young man and a young lady who were clearly in better shape than I. I’m 59, a bit overweight, and somewhat of an air hog these days, so she worked the dive to have us back at the boat when it was time for me to do my safety stop. After I surfaced she took the other two divers out for some more touring. The young man was not as efficient as the young lady, so about ten minutes later he surfaced and came on to the boat. She then took the young lady out for another ten minutes of diving. I thought it was nice how she went out of her way to maximize everyone’s bottom time. It was a large wreck with lots to see, so I’m glad everyone wasn’t limited by my lack of conditioning. Dakota was determined to squeeze everything possible into each diver’s individual experience.
The dives sites were wonderful. The wrecks (Rita Zovetta and Cristobal Colon) were interesting. I do wish that I had known in advance which wrecks we were diving, so I could do deeper research into their histories. The brief includes the background, but the trip to most of the wrecks is relatively short, so there’s only so much time for briefing the extra stuff. Knowing the full history makes a wreck dive that much more interesting.
The reef dives (Cathedral and North Rock) were beautiful with healthy corals and lots of interesting swim-throughs. Not a lot of big animals here. The sea fans, corals, and terrain are the stars of this show.
If you like hunting lionfish Dive Bermuda will do everything in their power to set you up for success.
I had two grand daughters who were going to do the discover diving program. Weather did not cooperate with our timetable, so I can’t say much about that. I will say that I would have trusted any of the crew members to take the girls through the experience without any concern for their safety.

Read moreFun, kind, knowledgeable scuba shop. We dove with them in July 2021 - after Covid restrictions started to ease. Bermuda is being very careful and we found the Grotto Bay resort and Dive Bermuda to also be careful. I am a highly experienced diver with a lot of dives; I also worked in a small shop in college and so know my way around. Everyone here was very friendly and helpful. Very patient, too! I went on a two tank dive in the morning and had such a good experience that I signed both my teens up for the afternoon "Dive experience" which was lovely. The water was extremely clear (I was lucky - you get what you get...) and the seas calm. Robyn was very patient with my kids and they had a great time and came back very excited to be able to get certifications at some point. I went on another 2-tank dive the next morning with my wife, and she also had a great time. She is a less experienced diver than me and had a lot of questions for Robyn who answered them all very patiently. My oldest even did the "dive experience" again that afternoon with Alex. They went to a great selection of wrecks and reefs. Having dove a lot in Florida, the most impressive part of diving in Bermuda is the height of the reefs - they are often 30 or 40 feet tall off the bottom, giving a lot of interesting features, crevices to explore, swim thoughts, etc. And, the wrecks are nicely preserved with a lot of interesting bits to see - old engine parts, structural beams, very cool stuff... We hadn't planned on going diving, so didn't bring any gear so we got the full package (dives and gear). Gear was in great shape and worked well. They had a selection of sizes that managed to fit everyone (my kids, my wife, myself). Don't think too much - this is an awesome dive shop and Bermuda is a great place...
Read moreOur main instructor was not attentive enough to students and showed negligence to our needs. As a result, my buddy sustained a serious permanent injury, that he will suffer from for the rest of his life (hearing loss). We took an Open Water Course last week. All 4 students were overweighed to different degrees and had to keep changing our weight belt until the last day. We expressed our concern over this several times. Our trim tests were not made properly and timely. My buddy was overweighed three times and was only given the correct weights on the last dive of the course (third day) by another (more attentive) instructor. Unfortunately, it was too late by then as he had sustained a serious permanent injury having descended too fast with so much weight attached to him. His eardrum was ruptured resulting in a hearing loss. We spent the following days of our "vacation" in emergency rooms and doctor offices. While I appreciate the professionalism and attention of the second instructor, it was disappointing to witness the negligence of our main instructor and the consequences that my buddy has to bear for life. Diving is a fun, but very dangerous, activity so first time students need FULL attention to limit risks of injury. This is more important than being a friendly fun instructor. I hope the center and its team learn from this and pay more attention in the future to student's proper...
