The hike from Lake Agnes to the Plain of Six Glaciers Loop was absolutely breathtaking! We covered approximately 8.4 miles in total, and it took us about 4 hours to complete—including time for photos, a bathroom break, and a stop at the Tea House for tea and scones (which I highly recommend!).
This is a moderately challenging hike with a fair amount of elevation gain, but the sweeping alpine views, turquoise lakes, and glacier vistas make every step worthwhile.
💡 Trail Tips:
• Wear proper footwear (hiking boots or shoes are strongly recommended).
• Bring plenty of water and layer appropriately—weather conditions can shift quickly at higher altitudes.
• If there’s a chance of rain, pack a windbreaker or rain jacket—there’s minimal tree coverage in some sections of the trail.
• Consider bringing hiking poles—they’ll definitely come in handy, especially on steeper or rocky stretches.
• Bring cash if you plan to purchase anything at the Tea House.
• Be prepared for a wait in line at peak hours.
• Don’t forget your camera—the views are incredible!
⚠️ Important Note: Public parking at Lake Louise is no longer available for most visitors. You’ll need to purchase shuttle passes in advance through Parks Canada if you plan to hike this trail during the summer months. Spots fill up quickly,...
Read moreHighly recommended trail for anyone able to move and in the area. We are not the best of hikers, but finished this trail (shows 6.5 miles on our movement trackers) in just under 5 hours. Have tea if you like - it’s nothing to write home about, then carry on in reverse. We took half the time to come down as we did to go up (3 hours up /...
