When our family relocated to Bradford, we were genuinely delighted to discover that an Afghan meat and grocery store had opened nearby. As proud supporters of local business, we were eager to support this shop from the outset. Over the years, we have not only remained loyal patrons, but have actively recommended the store to friends, neighbours, and the broader community.

Throughout our many visits, we’ve consistently appreciated the warmth and courtesy extended by the back end staff, which made the store feel like a valued part of our neighborhood. Unfortunately, our recent experience has left us both disappointed and disheartened.

We purchased a pan that was marketed as stainless steel, but to our surprise, it discolored and turned black after its very first use. We found out that this pan was actually aluminum. We reached out to the store right away, expecting the matter to be addressed reasonably. We were travelling so we couldn’t come by in person but mentioned we would return it next time we are home. L

Quite frankly, the item cost only $60 - we would have been more than willing to overlook the issue or would have been happy to accept a store credit in lieu of a return. Instead, when we brought the matter to the owner’s attention, he became defensive, dismissing our concerns and insisting he had never had an issue with the product himself.

What was most upsetting, however, was not just the refusal to accept the return, but the way the situation escalated. Rather than speaking with us respectfully, the owner began raising his voice, in front of other customers, causing a scene that left us feeling humiliated and deeply disrespected.

This experience was a stark contrast to the years of goodwill we’ve shared with the store. As long-standing customers who have spent thousands of dollars in support of this small business, we expected a conversation grounded in mutual respect and good faith. Instead, we were met with hostility and a complete lack of accountability.

I have been supporting this business since their opening, unfortunately over time the service and quality have deteriorated tremendously. I used to get all my meat and grocery from them, once their quality and service for the meat gotten worse I stopped getting meat however continued to get groceries just to support a small community business...
