This is a message for the older cashier my wife and I encountered yesterday who instead of de-escalating a situation decided to question the mood of my wife and give her a story to tell at Christmas functions this weekend. We were buying presents and a couple of gift cards... Which... For some reason... You didn't think we'd want the receipts for. What you didn't know was we were just inline behind another customer who was squabbling with a cashier because their cashier didn't give them receipts for the gift cards and they didn't work... (I'm assuming that's you, old school). Now I do understand that selling those gift cards are actually a pain in the backside, the front side the upside and the downside, I get that. But let me tell you this. Your employer cares so little about their customers that they have these systems where their only working function is to take our money. Weather what they're taking our money for works or not, they don't care. So when I take money and turn it into plastic money because my niece's play some stupid game on their Xbox, we'd like it to work. And if YOU the cashier want to try to figure out why my wife is being miserable... Well if you find out in the general sense, let me know, but as for this situation you seem to be lacking some self awareness and awareness of the experience your company provides for everyone shopping there. If you don't ASK if we want a receipt, how do we KNOW WHEN to ask for the receipt. See I'm not getting paid, and I'm one of the FEW people who are getting a human to check them out... The only reason you have a job... And those self checkouts went from a small area... To now... You're the small area. So you're there to OVER compensate for the lack of customer experience your employer has chosen to provide. When I walk into a store and have to pass through a GATE that tells me that the people I'm giving my money to think of me no better than a lowly criminal, then they think I'm supposed to be flawless at a job I was never trained at and cash myself out. There's people everywhere in the store, none of them "work that department" when I need help. So when I come to you, to treat me like a human being. I do it with a smile. I do it with understanding that you are going to treat me like a human being. That you are the only human part of my experience. And as for your employer and this review? Even this awful experience doesn't eclipse how terrible your employer is. I went from shopping at Walmart twice a week give years ago for groceries, toy, basically everything I buy. To going to Walmart maybe three times a year for a couple of things because I'm in the area, or it's Christmas and I'm just trying to even out the gifts. It's the one place when I walk into now where I absolutely can't ask anyone for help, they're either the most miserable people working the floor OR they don't actually work for Walmart (but they're in the store all day) and they must have been spawned from the Earth because they have NO awareness of anything going on inside the store (like honestly I've had customers ask ME where something was KNOWING I don't work there and I ANSWER them because I'm a human being... And they're a human being). And the worst thing is the self checkout. Absolutely f that. Especially considering your company holds more importance in loss prevention than just making their customers feel like they're giving someone their money they respect. Than giving that customer a good feeling when they leave and be a positive part...

You can barely get two carts up and down the aisles and to top it off, they're the only place in Fort Erie that supposedly does Western Union pickup. When you go to see them to get your money that was sent to you by Western Union they refuse to do it unless you actually have a debit card with your name on it which most banks here don't do. I know I deal with a very major Bank here and they don't give you a debit card with your name on it. It's just a Visa debit with the number now. I had six forms of government ID with pictures. Plus I had credit cards with my name on it and they would not give me my Western money Union. It forced the person that owed me the money and sent it to me to go get it back and send it via MoneyGram so I can get it at another store and to top it off Walmart outright lied and tried to tell me that it was Western Union making them do this. It is not. I've spoken to Western Union three times today. They apologize that Walmart did this but they did say that they allow stores to basically make up their own rules on how they give you the money and whether they're going to give you the money. So basically Walmart has made it nearly impossible to pick up Western Union money because as I said the big Banks here do not put your name on your debit card. You can go and request one but that takes 7 to 10 days and I have to wonder if this is Walmart's way of keeping your money for 7 to 10 days but whatever it is, it is a really really ridiculous rule when somebody has all the government ID and credit cards and everything else to prove they are who they say they are. So, again they're just messing people around with Western Union and the store itself is just overcrowded and and crazy. I would not recommend. Frankly, I would just avoid Walmart completely at this point and go to a Canadian company to buy whatever you may need. You've got Jesse's No Name right next door which has a lot of great groceries at great prices. You also have several other shops within a 2 km radius that'll cover anything you might want to buy at Walmart at prices just as good and sometimes...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThis WalMart is the worst I have ever visited. I travel to foreign countries often and am always relieved when I see a WalMart and have never been disappointed by my expectations. That changed with this location, not only with by the lack of inventory but with the lack of customer relation skills by all employees. They are unfriendly, not helpful in the least and are not knowledgeable on any item you may inquire about. Every time I have had to ask an employee about anything, down to where an item may be located in the store every single time the answer has been, āI donāt knowā. Unbelievable, this is not the way any other WalMart operates at any other location across the globe. I had an issue that needed to be escalated to a manager on my last visit which just solidified my mind set completely. This assistant manager was not only rude but from the start already had made his mind up about the situation. Before I finished explaining things he cut me off and simply repeated what the employee had stated. Which in every other WalMart is not the way that would have been resolved but at this location apparently it is. After the manager cut me off I asked him for his name and a card , he told me his first name only as he walked off to his office. I had to ask the employee it again because I couldnāt even hear it clearly from him. I left that day and I will never go back into that location again. My advice to anyone reading this review is if you feel like you and everyone else should be treated with respect and be appreciated as a valued customer this in NOT the WalMart for you. Trust me when I tell you , you must be reading this review for a reason. Donāt patronize...
