I understand the need to check ID but this experience was excessive. I am 21 years old and needed to show 4 pieces of photo ID, 4 credit cards/debit cards with my name on it and have her check my signature. And the lady STILL hardly believed it was me. I've had some skin issues recently and the fact this lady thought my acne was so bad I wasn't even recognizable made me so self conscious I didn't even want to be out in public anymore. I wasn't even going in there to gamble, I was just meeting my parents for lunch there. I have never been nearly turned away since I look like all 4 of my photo IDs in my wallet. My boyfriend who is 22 got in right away with his first piece of ID. That experience of needing to prove that I am who I say I am really upset me. I will never be back. Below is the response Mohawk Casino gave me. To which I reply: Yes... I understand that I need to be ID'd. Hence why at the beginning of my comment I said that I understand the concept of getting ID'd... However, 8 pieces of ID is excessive (4 of which are photo). Do people usually forge 8 pieces of ID and attempt to go into your casino? Because if so, then I would expect everyone to be forced to show 8 pieces. Unless, the reason I needed to go to such extreme lengths to prove I am who I (along with all 8 pieces of my ID) say I am is because the lady thought that my acne was so bad I was not recognizable. In which case, i am so extremely hurt. It takes a lot of strength for me to go out in public with acne as bad as mine is. What I learned from this experience is that I should give up showing my horrifying face in public. Thank you for letting me know.

UPDATE: FEBRUARY I have returned a few times since my last visit and the Executive staff I’ve had interactions with recently have all been positive, even with staffing delays and shortages, they still accommodated the players who were waiting for High Roller to open, by giving us priority of seating, Bravo. High Roller room was fun, I had a good time, thank you to the first dealer who taught me some table manners and took her time with me as it was my first time in person at Elements or a Casino in general, and to the Second one as-well, Thank you both. I was expecting more tables, maybe a bit dimmer lights and not as many screens for sports betting, but it was nice atmosphere, away from the Main Floor. Staff here in particular were respectful, helpful, and made good conversation. I played for a few hours there last night with some friends. It was unfortunate that the executives and staff I did come across when Initially came into the casino, were rude and seemed as if I was wasting their time and interrupting them walking around, while I just wanted to know how to get to high roller and if it was their only offerings of two specific games. Security staff here are also very polite and friendly.

We had fun at the May long-weekend family day at Mohawk. We visited the casino for about 1.5 hours. My husband won. My cousin broke even. Where else can you be entertained for 90 minutes for a better rate? It was clean, well staffed, and had many, many, many machines. The horse races were fun. The 10:30 p.m. fireworks were great. It was well worth the wait. Kudos to the staff of Woodbine Mohawk.

  1. Make sure you bring your parka/tuque/scarf and your beachwear. Depending on where you are in the casino, it could be a stifling sauna or frigidly cold. 2) On a busy Saturday night, there was only one person working the front customer desk. I was going to get a player's card and there were over a dozen people in line. After waiting 20 minutes, I decided to leave and come back later. When I did, the single employee was on break. So I decided to leave and come back later. When I returned, the desk was closed until the next day. 3) Twice within two hours, a slot machine malfunctioned - in one case, a $20 bill got stuck upon insertion and in the other case the machine froze and wouldn't allow me to cash out my voucher - it took 15 minutes for someone to come and unjam my bill and, in the second instance, it took FORTY minutes for a service attendant to retrieve my voucher. 4) The music was so loud, I was developing a throbbing headache. A female casino management employee wearing a pantsuit and an identification lanyard happened to walk by as I was playing a slot machine. I mentioned to her that the music was excruciatingly loud and that I had never heard such volume in any casino I've visited. She was dismissive and said people like it and she's had no complaints. After she walked away, the lady playing the machine beside me said that she made the same complaint to the same woman about half an hour earlier when she was playing another machine in another area of the casino .... and she was told dismissively that people liked the music and there had been no complaints. At this point, after hearing this, I was so annoyed that I needed to take a walk. So I decided that, as I was walking, I would ask random people in the casino whether they thought the music was a) too loud, b) just right or c) not loud enough. I actually took a mental count while surveying. The result: Out of 50 people surveyed, 44 said the music was too loud, 6 said it was just right and 0 said it was not loud enough (and no, I did not just ask the geriatric crowd - I made sure it was a random sampling, including about a dozen people who were clearly under 25). Bottom line: I have come to the conclusion that you either have to be severely gambling addicted or a true masochist with no self respect to frequent this...

First the positive

I've updated this since covid.

Other places are opening buffets...mohawk still has no decent place to eat. A large number of slots are turned off for some reason. This has been going on for months. Flamboro has same slots but not so many off.

Bill takers on so many machines are pathetic. Likely need cleaning. I think maintenance is something not done. Spend more time trying to out my money in than playing it seems.

Now my biggest complaint.... I play slots there and like most people have my favorites. I take my mother and we go at midnite till 3am or later. This way it's very quiet and we can get the slots we want. The problem here is that there are certain players there that feel like they must play 2 or even 3 machines at once. Well not play but reserve machines!! Often machines sit idle for hours with a cup on the machine or the chair spun around and a few credits in the machine. We often go and find all the machines we want to play are "reserved". On one occasion one guy had 4 machines he had reserved. I finally got a slot attendant and they practically had to force this person to give up a machine.

Last week we arrived to find 5 machines tied up by 2 people. I asked one person who had 3 machines if I could play one. They said no. The slot attendant refused to do anything.

This casino is the worst one for this reserving machine issue. I know its the players creating this but the casino needs to become more aggressive in stopping this. At least make people aware of the policies.

Another pet peeve is that the customer service desk is not open 24 hours. In a 24 hour casino this is ridiculous!!!! If you need anything late you're out of luck

Comps...what do we do with all our play credits. NOTHING. There are no events...no decent restaurants unless you're into noodles.

On a plus. Slot attendants are amazing. Super friendly...
