We purchased the Delta dining room table from Fine Oak Things in Sep-23 and it was delivered in Oct-23. During the delivery and installation, the staff didn’t have the screws to secure the lower beam and as a result it took another week for someone to come and install the screws. We were pleased with the style of the table and despite areas where there were patches of uneven stain (see photos) we were generally satisfied.
Six months later (May-24) we discovered that the table had started to crack at both ends of the table. The longest of the cracks measuring 10 inches and going from the top of the table through to the bottom. When I contacted Fine Oak Things they were initially responsive and prompt to address the problem. They came to collect the table top and return it to the builder (Levi Hoover) for assessment. A month later, the table top was returned the cracks were still evident, and the only difference was that they had glued/filled about 3 inches of the longest crack. Everything else was left as unfixed. When asked how this could happen to a solid wood table that is less than 1 years old, the reason that was provided by Fine Oak Things and the builder (Levi Hoover) was that it was due to humidity. It is questionnable that humidity in Milton (where Fine Oak Things is located) and Burlington where we reside differ so greatly as to cause such deep and long cracks. The table is placed in a humidty-controlled environment with no direct sunlight, so it is not plausible that this is the reason for these flaws. When asked if the lumber used was below standard, Fine Oak Things stated that they have not received other complaints from similar tables bought during this period, but did not directly answer my question. Fine Oak Things also stated that the builder has done more than they normally would to help fix the situation and that they could provide new table top at cost. It brings to question whether there are consistent quality standards to their sourcing of materials. Perhaps we have just been unlucky to buy a lemon, but we would not re-purchase the same product if there is no guarantee to the quality of the materials used. It is now 4 months since we identified the crack and no further solution is being offered by...
Read moreJon carries THE BEST OUTDOOR FURNITURE! The LuxCraft furniture is quality furniture. It can be left out in the winter, no need to store it. Pictures 1 & 2 are the chairs around our front firetable. We actually used the furniture through the winter. The third picture is our wood firepit out back with 6 chairs. Picture 4 is two Balcony Chairs and a Balcony table. It also shows the bench we use a step up to our hot tub. It pairs perfectly in colour and is superior to the alternative of a typical narrow two step to get up to the hot tub. Having a full length bench allows for stepping up anywhere along the length of the tub and then "walking" the bench as you lift the lid. Picture 5 shows the same furniture as we got further into the winter. Picture 6 shows we shoveled right up to the Balcony set and buried it in snow so as to gain access to the hot tub. The furniture takes what you throw (or shovel) at it. This furniture is bullet proof. Buy quality, buy it once and then sit back and enjoy. Jon's customer service is second to none. We plan on a few more pieces. More pictures to follow :) We bought our bar stools for our live edge table from Jon. They were of far better quality than anything else we could source. The black goes great with the powder-coated legs...
Read moreAbsolutely LOVED the experience - and the products - at Fine Oak Things! My partner and I went in one Sunday and met Beth who was patient and kind as we spent a couple of hours with her looking at different dining room sets to match our price point. We went in again the following Saturday to place our order, and met with Jon - again, a wonderful experience. Jon helped us finalize our selection - including stains and upholstery that would match our space and style.
The quality and price are unmatched elsewhere. The service - superb! I want to especially acknowledge their commitment to timelines. I so appreciate when businesses give me a realistic timeframe to manage expectations, and then over-deliver! Our furniture was meant to be delivered mid-November, we received it the first weekend in November. The delivery was to occur between 4 and 6pm, they called me at 3:52. A special shout out as well to the delivery staff - kind, professional, and efficient gentlemen. Kudos all around. Wishing Fine Oak Things the very...
