Ski Lachance — Local services in Mont-Tremblant

After searching high and low for ski boots to accommodate my extra wide calves … Alex and Francis (with assistance from three other technicians) provided me with customized boots that both fit perfectly, and were stylish!!

My calves are 22 inches circumference and their widest part.

Alex and Francis thoroughly measured me, remeasured me, fitted me, provided customized insoles including shims to angle my foot so that way my ankle was positioned correctly. They also customized my boot to add an extra piece of plastic for width, moved clamps, and even extended the closing strap - all in 3hrs total, for $800 and completed same day!!!!!

I was able to ski that afternoon for the first time in over a decade, and it moved me to tears!!! Thank you SO MUCH to the team at Lachance.

One star lost as it was communicated to me that customization was included in the cost of the boot (I confirmed this several times)- however at the till, I realized that $200 of my bill was for customization. I do not doubt that these boots are absolutely worth every penny I paid, however this additional charge rather startling. It would have been more appropriate to have been informed of possible additional charges at the beginning. This occurrence was communicated to the manager so hopefully future customers won’t get the same surprise. Hopefully this was just a fluke.

Otherwise, service was PHENOMENAL.

Highly knowledgeable and skilled team, very thorough in their measurement and dedicated to providing something perfect for you. Friendly and fun. Kindly accommodated me by communicating in english (I apologize for not knowing French, and sincerely appreciate your flexibility). Not once did they ever make me feel unwelcomed or dumb for being a beginner - which has been my experience at other ski shops (in the Ottawa area).

I do believe that they are great boot fitters; however, I do not believe they sold me the right boots for my feet. I have a high instep and notoriously bony ankles with a skinnier foot. My instep was not measured before selling me the Lange RS 130 ski boots which have the smaller last I need, but not the volume needed to fit my higher instep. I went back and forth for three days trying to get them fitted, but they just wouldn't work and still cut off my circulation with lots of pressure points. Unfortunately, I am not from the area, so I could not bring the boot back to have them refitted again. I believe if I had gone this path, they wouldn't have gotten the boots to fit right no matter how hard they tried.

I did get the boots fitted at another place in the states that is another top notch shop for boot fitting and they were able to make the boots feel a little better, but my circulation is still being cut off. Mount Snow Bootworks then proceeded to let me try on boots with smaller lasts, but higher volumes to accommodate my high instep like the technica mach 130, the cochise 120, the nordica GPX 130. These boots all felt so much better from just trying them on without any custom work done!

In the end, my issues were resolved and Daniel Lachance Ski Service eventually stood by their word of guaranteeing a boot fit which is why I’m bumping up my review one star. I guess the moral of the story is make sure to try on lots of boots first and make sure to take the time to really feel the boots out and not rush into a sale. I believe I was sold a boot that wouldn't work for my feet no matter how good of a boot...

We recently visited Mont Tremblant with a group of 13 and rented our ski gear from this outstanding rental shop. From start to finish, our experience was top-notch. One of the most impressive aspects was the quality of the equipment. Every piece of gear, from the skis to the boots and helmets, felt brand new and was in excellent condition. Their patience and expertise made the process smooth and enjoyable, even with our large group size.

Returning the equipment was just as seamless as picking it up. The staff was efficient and organized, making the return process quick and hassle-free, which was greatly appreciated after a long day on the slopes.

Overall, we couldn't have asked for a better ski rental experience.
