The new management has done their best to push out most of the long-term tenants through lease hikes and policies regarding the décor. This is in no way a 'destination' mall, and yet all the marketing would have you think so. A solid 40% of the units are vacant, and it's only getting worse. The only positives are that some renovations and new seating installations have been done. Other than that, the only real unique store is Flippance & Carr, a Home Theatre and Audio retailer that moved from the run-down and soon-closing Bronte Village Mall. Every other store is a local necessity I.e. Metro, Tim Horton's, Gino's Pizza. It's too bad too, one of the bigger units would be a great spot for something like a Game Board café if the leasing costs were in line with local demand, as the youth population in...
Read moreSince the regrettable closure of the large Target store at the east end of the South Oakville Centre, I really only visit two businesses at this mall - Goodlife Fitness for Women only and Winners. The Winners store is a small one, but I always stop in to take a quick browse on the occasion I go to the gym at this location. I like this Goodlife Fitness as it is large, for women only and it provides lots of options for a good workout. There is a spin studio, which is not my thing, and a large group fitness room as well as lots of cardio equipment and weight training machines. The mall also has a major grocery chain (I think it is Metro) and a Tim Horton's plus a number of smaller shops. It is a bit depressing as a lot of the mall is abandoned and with...
Read moreThe stores I frequently visit in here are TD, CIBC, Tim Hortons, Shoppers Drug Mart (especially post office within), subway and at times the pizza place. It serves the purposes for what I visit it for. As for other store that are within, there isn’t much. After Target closed down it has become somewhat of a ghost town. I think a Walmart would thrive in this location as there isn’t one nearby for many miles and it would help businesses within. I’m unsure why Walmart didn’t look into this location. I realize south Oakville is a wealthy part of town, but believe me I’ve seen lots of multi million dollar owners shop...
