Ordered a $6 ice cream cone and asked for a sample of another flavor for my partner, was told they don't offer samples. I've never heard of this before. Is this becoming the new norm in the industry? Seems pretty surprising considering the cost of the ice cream. Is 10 grams of ice cream on a spoon really causing too big a hit to profit margins when its $6 a cone? Would be interested to hear ownership's take on this as it comes across as stingy. And if you're going to be stingy, don't put 20% tips as a default option on your machines, because you can use the savings on those 10 grams of ice cream to pay your workers a better wage. I could certainly see there being an argument that giving samples causes longer lines, but if that's the case at least use some common sense with a policy like that. I was the only one there with no one behind me at the end of the day.
Still giving 3 stars because the ice cream was good, but unless ownership has a very good reason for this policy I'll be finding another ice cream shop to support...
Read moreWe tried the Scoop for the first time a few days ago, and unfortunately it was a terrible experience and we will not be returning. We mistakenly thought a "small" was a single scoop, so I decided to approach the young lady behind the counter to clarify the sizing so that we would know for next time. Not only was she occupied on her phone, but she was extremely rude, defensive and combative. Customer service is obviously not a priority here. To top it all off, I have a dairy intolerance so I specifically ordered the dairy free Mango sorbet, and was disappointed to find chunks of dairy ice cream mixed in with my sorbet (the scoop had obviously not been cleaned properly between orders). Not to mention they didn't have basic flavours such as plain chocolate or strawberry. We will be going elsewhere from now on and will advise others to...
Read moreIf not for "dishonesty" of the lady who served us yesterday, 27 Aug. 2025 at 5ish pm, I would probably give this ice cream parlour a good review because the serving and the flavours are not bad. If I order 4 kid's size at $3.50 each, in simple math, that is $14, why did I pay $16.50? Even if you put tax on this at 1.13%, the total is only $15.82. Now, either the cash register does not know how to calculate or the lady does not know how to operate the cash register. What's worse is she charged another 1 kid size because she said that one order is not included in the $16.50! Lady, I can even calculate 4 Kids size at $3.50 each in my head. You didn't even bother "re-checking" unless you have another...
