We’ve been customers here for years and have never been disappointed — until now. The service during our last visit was truly awful.
When we arrived, we specifically asked for a sunny table and were told it was fine. We had a full conversation with the staff about wanting to enjoy the afternoon sun, and we chose our table outside for that exact reason.
About 20 minutes later, another couple arrived. Shortly after, a different waitress came over and, without saying a word, pulled the blinds down. I politely told her that we had chosen that spot to enjoy the sun and asked her to leave the blinds open. Her response was simply, “Too bad, the other clients asked for the blinds to be closed.”
I explained again that we were there first, had made a specific request, and had chosen that table for the sunshine. She completely ignored what I said and kept repeating, “They want the blinds down,” as if that automatically overruled our request. She didn’t listen at all — just kept saying the same thing, with a rude and dismissive attitude. This was back and for and she was becoming more rude and dismissal every second that pass .
What upset us most wasn’t even the blinds being down — it was the way she made us feel. Like our request didn’t matter and our presence wasn’t important. She treated us like we were a problem, not valued customers. We were so uncomfortable that we seriously considered leaving before our food even arrived.
Eventually, the owner stepped in, told the other waitress that the first guests to arrive get to choose, and another (much more respectful) waitress came over to raise the blinds. The original, rude waitress never came back to our table. She should not be working in customer service .
We left feeling very disappointed. We’ve always enjoyed coming here, but this experience was completely unacceptable. That kind of attitude has no place in...
Read moreMaybe it was an unexpectedly busy Sunday night? But, no communication and the service was lacking.
Starting it off... No bread, they ran out. We managed to get 3 small triangles of pita? for our table of four when we started with the antipasto. We asked for some more with the mains and it never came. I personally really missed having bread with my pasta (Rigatoni with roasted chicken), it may have filled a bit more space in my empty feeling stomach. I would order a double portion next time. The server who brought our food said they ran out of bread but said she'd see what they can do, never saw her again.
No glass served with the beer? She then asked for a glass and it was brought about 20 min later.
One of the orders at the table was spaghetti with an optional meet ball ($3 ea) and was forgotten. We asked for it when the mains were delivered and It showed up when we were completely done our meals .. and they charged us for it anyway. We didn't see our server once form the time he took the order to the time he brought the forgotten meat ball. He wasn't apologetic in any way, nor did he ask us how our meals were. Typically I'd like to have someone ask how the meal is a couple bites in ... just never though?
Four of us sat at the window table beside the entrance and it wasn't as cold as I thought it would be. The decor on the other hand...but the chairs were comfy.
We left without looking at desserts, Baskin Robbins was close by and that did the job.
Overall, not a very pleasant restaurant experience, however the company was great and the food was good...just overshadowed by all...
Read moreI went to Porcino's for the first time tonight with two other guests. The food was great!
We started with several appetizers, the Caprese Salad, Arancini, Calamari and Three Spreads.
The Caprese Salad was excellent. My fiance, who gets them often, said it was the best one he has ever had.
The Arancini was crispy and delicious. There was one large ball, and I expected multiple balls because I am used to that from other Italian places, but it was large and had a great taste; 3 of us were all able to enjoy it together.
The Calamari tasted fresh and was not overly deep-fried. It was of excellent quality and didn't remind me of an app deep-fried at a bar.
The Three spreads came with House Made Tapanade (Olive Purée), Hummus (Chickpea Purée) and Roasted Red Pepper-Goat Cheese Spread. The Tapenade and Roasted Red Pepper dip were fantastic, the hummus was not very good and tasted like low brand hummus from a grocery store, but it was the only disappointment of the night.
The mains were veal parmesan, chicken parmesan and mushroom ravioli. All of them were awesome!
The service was standard, nothing special, nothing bad. The environment is romantic and would make for a great date. The Christmas music in November wasn't for me, but I get people love it haha. The wine list is also great.
Overall very good experience, and we will...
